Kevin Smith's Tusk

I thought this was great, some of the guy lapointe scenes went on too long but all the performances were great and I loved how it was filmed. Playing the podcast over the credits was brilliant too.

My only issue was the flashback with Guy Lapointe. It was far too long, and should have been played way differently. At the very least, someone should have stepped in and told Michael Parks to knock off whatever the hell he was doing in that scene.

So I heard there's lots of in-jokes regarding the SModcast in this movie. That's pretty cool as I'm a frequent SModcast listener.

Yeah he was way too hammy, outside of that scene though Parks was chilling. He was such a fantastic villain.

That was my issue with the scene. I wanted that chilling, imposing sounding Parks that Wallace was chatting with. Whatever Parks was doing in that flashback just didn't cut it for me.

Eh, it was a part he was playing, he showed in his scene with Wallace when they're both in wheelchairs that he enjoys f***ing with people. And he got pretty close to that chilling demeanor towards the end scene when he got to taking about the difference between people and animals.

I too took issue with the length of the Depp/Parks conversation. It should have been, like, 98 minutes longer.

The scene was way too long, and I'm sure Kev just was so happy to have Parks and Depp in a scene that he wasn't about to trim a second. I was entertained by it I guess, but it didn't do the movie any good at that length.

He left it that long because the scene with Parks was the reason Depp agreed to be in the movie. And also because it was ****ing awesome.

I dug it. Such a weird friggen movie haha. Nice to see something that just doesn't give a ****.

The make up FX reminded me of something out of Nightbreed. Didn't think they would go that far and so quick into the process. Great use of Fleetwood mac.

This was one of the trippiest ****ing movies I've ever seen. Despite some familiar elements in it, there is nothing quite like Tusk (as a movie) and the concept of Mr. Tusk. I'm honestly not sure how I felt, but.......I think I dug it.

i can not find the date for the VOD realese. will it be out next month?

Tusk was successful enough for Kev to get Clerks III going.

“Tusk was the absolute bridge to Clerks III,” says Smith on the latest Hollywood Babble-On. “Because of Tusk I got my financing for Clerks III. And honestly, that wouldn’t have happened [without Tusk]. A year and change ago I was desperately trying to get Clerks III made for the 20th anniversary and that desperation – I must have reeked of it because I couldn’t *****ing find money and ****. But it was Tusk, people going ‘Holy *****, what else do you have?’ and I was like ‘Clerks III‘ and they’re like ‘done’. So, everybody that’s like, ‘he failed, he failed’, I’m like ‘thank you, I failed into doing Clerks III.”

As a walrus, I found this film to be an abomination.

When Justin Long plays a walrus, nobody panics. But when Rooney Mara plays Tiger Lily, everyone loses their minds!

I saw this tonight and I thought it was really well placed. So creepy and gruesome. I don't even know how I can explain this movie to people.

I also loved wallace's girlfriend. That actress would make a fasinating white tiger if marvel decided to adapt that character.

Gee Michael parks is such a great actor by the way. What a talent. Unfortunatly he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. It feels like people will only care about him when he's no longer with us

Btw, my apologies to you and your people incognitowalrus. I have donated money to the anti walrus defamation league as part of my apology

Thank you, Silvermoth.

My kind has worked for far too long in the entertainment industry to be slighted like this.

i watched Tusk :lmao:

''deleted promo images'' because i would get banned.

I thought this was pretty good, albeit disturbing and awkward as ****. I liked Red State a little better but this confirms for me that kev still has it. Man Cop Out was terribad.

Also +1 to Michael Parks, that guy is just fun to watch.

Why is he a walrus at the end, couldn't they do surgery,or put him out of his misery?

According to the commentary on the DVD Wallace went full Walrus and thats how he was gonna live. Ultimately, that's just how Kev wanted to end the flick.

It was an absurd ending for an absurd movie. It's not really supposed to make sense, it was made for purpose of being a funny, stupid concept that's played straight.
