What has JOeyy Q said on the subject officially, anyway?

I'd ask him on Marvel.coms blog but it's not that big of a deal. Spidey has his small hapiness. MJ. His problems, his inner conflicts, and downfalls... That's what makes him Spidey... You take that away and all you have it a batman like figure. Fighting crime for the hell of it with no real spirit behing it.. no quips (I've been reading a lot of Spidergirl and USM lately. ) or wisecracks or lame jokes he can barely finish because of the intensity of a fight. Without that... Stan Lee would have a heart attack and all would be lost.

That's another thing I didn't like about the Millar run on MKSM. He has Gargan say to Peter's face that Osborn killed May. And Peter's reaction is completely deadpan. He should have been ready to rip both Gargan and Osborn's heads off.

Exactly. How could any parent stand there and listen to someone say that (after Gargan had already done enough to Pete) and not want to just rip his head off. Plus not only did he just blow that comment off but he turns around and breaks Osborn out of prison. Yeah Aunt May depended on it, but did he really expect Norman to just play along? So stupid.
