Kill the Deadpool project already

Chris Pratt would be awesome if he gained some muscle mass.

Reynolds is doing Highlander.
and good riddance, I never thought he could do the character justice anyway. people keep casting deadpool with only the comedic aspect in mind, when deadpool, while hilarious, is also batsh** nuts, and not always in the funny way. the guy is a psychopath, he has that edge to him, he is a danger to everyone around him. The other members of the marvel universe don't want him around the just because he's annoying, but because he's dangerous as well. I don't think Ryan Reynolds can convincingly play crazy.

There's no one in Hollywood with the level of improv skills and range to play Deadpool then Reynolds. You need a motormouth to play a motormouth. No actor knows Deadpool more then Reynolds. Liked the script? Thank Reynolds. (and Reese and Wernick of course) Want Deadpool to be close to the comic... You'd want Reynolds. The only reason there's even talk about a movie IS Ryan!
I would rather see no movie in the next couple of years, than a rushed, half assed movie without Reynolds.

The only way would be to get Nolan North to do the voice and Ray Park or Scott Adkins to do the physical stuff.

there's not a single part of that I agree with :/ except maybe nolan north of course.

Care to elaborate or should we just say we agree to disagree?

I guess it's just a matter of preference. I don't hate reynolds, and if he was cast as Deadpool I wouldn't be completely against it. I just have difficulty picturing him as the character. I don't hear his voice when I read the comics, if that makes any sense.

I seriously doubt Reynolds is the one holding this movie up. He keeps taking other movies not because he hates Deadpool or doesn't want it, but because there IS NO DEADPOOL MOVIE. Was he supposed to just sit on his ass and not work? What if this movie ends up like Kevin Smith's "Fletch Won"?

Maby we should start sending taco shells to FOX. :p

It isn't just Reynolds comedic talents they're after. Its his action skills. There are few well known swordsmen like him in Hollywood with these skills AND the comedic element and name recognition.

Nothing I've ever seen out of him convinces me that Reynolds is a comedy and improv master.

Being a swordsman isn't important since chances are he probably isn't doing most of those stunts anyway. In terms of name recognition, Reynolds is not that big of a draw. Green Lantern was his big chance and it tanked. His other big hits were with bigger Academy Award names attached like The Proposal and Safe House.

Blade Trinity is the flick for him that started all the Deadpool stuff. Lotta improv and smart ass comments for him there. There probably wouldnt even be a Deadpool movie in production at Fox if it wasnt for Reynolds. The characters popularity sky rocketed when Reynolds was announced as Deadpool in XMOW. Im surprised at alot of the Reynolds hate now. It def wasnt there when he was originally cast. Reynolds was the #1 fan choice for Deadpool just about for 10 years and has tried to get the movie made for quite some time.

Fox knows the character is marketable and they obviously are interested. They just dont want it rated R. Reynolds wont have the flick any other way. So if they pass on this and Reynolds who has been the main supporter on rating Deadpool R ... then we will be getting a pg-13 Deadpool. A Deadpool flick will be made regardless in the future so hopefully Fox just makes the right decision and goes with the Rhett Reese script.

This is probably never going to happen!

And I don't want Ryan Reynolds to play him. Recast him please!

So...he's in HIGHLANDER because...his stunt men are good with swords?

Of course being a swordsmen is important to the character of Deadpool. So is being good with action work, which he's proven he is. Guns, swords, etc.

It doesn't matter whether he's "that big of a draw". That wasn't the argument. He is still a name.

except the actor playing deadpool doesn't HAVE to be good with swords and guns. if it's done right, you'll rarely ever see deadpool's face, stunt men could easily be used.

i can't tell if The Guard is being sarcastic with this sword stuff. I certainly hope so

same here, I mean, of all the reasons people seem to latching onto to justify reynolds getting this role, that it is the flimsiest.

This is why people want him as Deadpool, aside from him being a talented actor who can play dramatic roles like in the Murder House movie and Smoking Aces, and side from his improve comedy style like in most of his films, he also loves the comic character and wants the movie to be just like the comic. "Has to be Rated R, and wouldn't be connected to the Wolverine movie at all!" And he finishes the interview saying (after being asked about GL2) "I would love to do a Deadpool movie."
I don't know why he keeps doing other things, maybe because like he says in the short interview the studio wont give them much money because it would be Rated R and a big risk for the studio. But they are probably also pushing for the film to be PG-13 at the highest and Reynolds doesn't want Deadpool to be anything but R.
Also reminds me of how Robert Rodriguez kept saying he would make Madman, but keeps doing other projects like Spy Kids 4, Sin City, GrindHouse, etc.

def28, dude Blade: Trinity sucked and was the worst of the franchise. Reynolds character was bad and many people believed his humor was bad and didn't fit the tone of the franchise. They tried to make into a backdoor for a Nightstalkers spin-off but that never happened. They let Reynolds overshadow Snipes and fans did not like it at as much.

Again I don't get what is the big deal about Van Wilder's brand of comedy. Nothing he has done proves to me he is a comedy or improv comedy master of the likes of say Peter Sellers.

Wow he said he likes comic characters and Deadpool. Big whoop. Did that help Green Lantern at all? No. Being a fan of the character and playing jokey *****ebags in a lot of movies IMHO doesn't mean an actor is perfect for Deadpool.

I could definitely buy Jeffrey Donovan as a better choice for Deadpool based off his performances in Burn Notice where he plays around with different character archetypes each week not to mention does action and stunts in many different fighting styles.

The Guard - I mean I like the Guard a lot. I think he's a great poster here, but his whole thing about swordsmanship is like . . . *wat*.

Yeah, this is the first I'm hearing of Reynold's master swordsmanship.

Yeah Blade Trinity was horrible, I disagree about Reynolds though, thought his humor was one of the best things about that movie. I didnt mind the Night Stalkers at all. His performance was always well received in that movie by most. Even his Pre Deadpool in XMOW was well received. If you dont like the actor thats a good reason for you not wanting him. But alot of people do find his earlier performances funny and he is is a decent actor in a fair amount of films. Im not trying to convince you into thinking hes funny or a good actor. I can def see why some dont like him or his humor, BUt I think there are very obvious reasons for why people have wanted him as Deadpool for awhile.

Its not that he just likes the character, his name dropping for years of the character has helped Deapools popularity and he has really set out to make a legit Deadpool film as a producer as well as an actor. I havnt heard one bad thing about the Deadpool script which he helped choose the writers and put quite a bit of input in. Hes not just an actor on this flick, hes producing as well. And he knows the character and got writers that did too as well as include input of his own. Hes been pushing for Fox to make it R, which is one of the hurdles with this movie. Wihout Reynolds the chance of a Deadpool movie would be even smaller.

Man I'm sorry but I don't really believe Deadpool has only become more popular just because of Reynolds.

Now I'm sure his being played by Reynolds in a glorified cameo in Wolverines and a version of Deadpool being in it helped raise his profile and got Marvel to start having him appear in more books and what not but to me that's only one reason. Plus the carrot in the Wolverine movie was rotten anyway.
