King Kong Extended Edition officially announced.

I thought there were a few, not nearly as many as the films detractors make it out to be though.

I'll name the ones I think:
  • Boat Trip to Skull Island
  • Bronto Stampede
  • Bugs in the Chasm
  • Kong vs V-Rexes
  • Central Park (?) scene
  • ESB Scene

I didn't even think JP did the T-Rex's better, and they weren't the primary effect in Kong.

JP did the Dinos much better than in Kong. Though it may be a little unfair since the JP Dinos were real while the Kong Dinos were fictional, but still, none of us have seen a living dinosaur.

I thought the Central Park scene and the ESB scenes are easily two of the most beautiful sequences ever put on film.
Kong vs. the V-Rex's is one of the most exciting, and showed what he was willing to go through for her.
The Bronto Stampede and the bug pit showed what Jack was willing to go through for her.
The only moments I think should've been cut from the first act are the ones involving Jimmy.

The skin textures and movements of the dinos in JP aren't even close to the ones in Kong imo. Their actions were far more complex, and they looked more realistic peforming them.

I wish there was a shorter version that would come out instead of a longer one.

Sure they're nice, but Central Park is absolutely useless and ESB is drawn out too much. Plus his fall is really pathetic.

Kong vs. the V-Rex's is one of the most exciting, and showed what he was willing to go through for her.

It was cool to look at, but how many do we have to see? The One-on-One fight was the only one necessary. The rest was just to show off the SFX.

The Bronto Stampede and the bug pit showed what Jack was willing to go through for her.

It wasn't obvious he was willing to save her by going out in the first place?

That should have been cut or expanded. The little they had was really meaningless.

I disagree. JP has some very incredible scenes. Sure there may not be a huge stampede or 3 T-Rexes fighting a giant ape, but they looked much better and more believeable than the dinos in Kong.

On the bright side, there is a shorter version now that there's a longer one coming out:O

Few details...

"As for added footage - you can expect an additional 13 minutes, and 230 new visual effects shots. In addition you can expect a commentary from Peter Jackson, around 40 minutes of deleted scenes, and a gag reel."

If it's a 3-disc set, I expect some behind the scenes stuff

So this is only 13 Minutes longer with 40 Minutes worth of deleted scenes which should have been included in hte Extended Edition ? Talk about a RUSHED release

Probably since the first release had pretty much nothing. This is such a tool for more money. Atleast with the LOTR extended cuts they included more that was in the book. I wish they'd make cut an hour and a half from the original cut to be as long as the original Kong. That managed to fit everything in the movie in half the time.

It's cool that some of you didn't like it
I loved the hell out of this movie and cannot wait to have this longer version

Good, KK wasn't long or boring enough. Neither were the LOTR movies.

I liked it. What I don't like is the people who loved it and can't see its faults.

I can't see the faults either :(
If there's a fault I can see, it's that it felt a bit short :(

I'm really the wrong person to ask, the whole movie just "clicked" to me....the entire cast (including Kong, of course), the music, the effects, the dialogue, the look of the movie, etc, etc, etc.

I mean, I saw it like 3 times at the theater and I wish I could have gone more times :(

Wow a movie that was already TOO LONG just got longer. Woohoo.

Sorry Jackson I won't bite. Besides sometimes longer does not mean better (case and point being the theatrical cut of King Kong itself or the extended edition of ROTK for that matter though).

And after the lame special features on the DVD of the 2 discs (albeit the doc on NYC and Skull Island was nice, the making of post-production stuff was a waste of time) I will no longer buy the 2 disc version of his films then.

Great!!!

I didn't buy the King Kong DVD because of this reason!

I bought the two disc edition, but I'm still going to get this.

:):) it comes with a statue of King Kong too! I am so getting this...if Wal-Mart or Target or Blockbuster will have it. The limited edition giftset.

Agreed. The theatrical film is a masterpiece, but there's heaps not in the theatrical film shown in the trailers (for example, the thing in the swamp swimming towards the crew trying to save Ann).

By the way, if anyone here hasn't bought the DVD and has Foxtel, the season for showing King Kong has started. $5.95 until 5.59 am the next day.

Well i absolutely LOVED the theatrical version of PJ's King Kong, an absolute masterpiece IMO, cant understand the people who dont like it. I will definately be buying this version, though i am a little dissapointed that we are only getting 13 mins more in the actual movie.

BUT PJ has probably just added the action scene's back in and left the more character scene's as deleted scene's.
