Sure they're nice, but Central Park is absolutely useless and ESB is drawn out too much. Plus his fall is really pathetic.
The Central Park scene was as far from as useless as it gets, it's what the film was all about.
All the carnage came to a sudden stop, at that moment in time, everything but them completely washed away. It was their final moment of joy before tragedy struck.
The ESB should be drawn out since they're holding onto each other as long as they possibly could, and the way his fall was shot was perfect, it was really pathetic in the previous films. No scene (in any film) compares to the feeling I get during that sequence, it was flawlessly executed in every aspect.
It was cool to look at, but how many do we have to see? The One-on-One fight was the only one necessary. The rest was just to show off the SFX.
I don't mind some scenes that are just cool to look at so long as the film isn't consumed by them to the point where the film is robbed of its substance.
IMO PJ is the best filmmaker out there and blending hearfelt emotion and visual spectacle.
Just making it one-on-one would've made for an exciting fight, but less exciting than what's in the film. After taking so long to get to them (which I didn't have a problem with) I think he should treat the audience to some massive, lengthy action setpieces.
It wasn't obvious he was willing to save her by going out in the first place?
Of course, but it is a film set on an island full of massive creatures, of course he's going to have to get through some of them to get to her.
That should have been cut or expanded. The little they had was really meaningless.
Yes, I agree. I didn't care for Jimmy or his relationship with Hayes at all.
I disagree. JP has some very incredible scenes. Sure there may not be a huge stampede or 3 T-Rexes fighting a giant ape, but they looked much better and more believeable than the dinos in Kong.
I don't agree at all, but fair enough, each to his own.
On the bright side, there is a shorter version now that there's a longer one coming out
On a side note, people *****ing about "damn you Jackson the theatrical cut was too long and now an extended cut! Blah blah..." It's not up to Jackson, it's up to the studio whether an extended cut comes out or not, you should be *****ing about Universal if it displeases you so much; not to mention it was obvious they were going to do it to boot. The first dvd had no commentary, and Jackson said he filmed quite a bit that wasn't on the original dvd and it was up to Universal whether they'd want to an extended version later on or not(which of course they would).
