About
The legendary fighters in the upcoming The King of Fighters XIV will be making their stateside debut thanks to a partnership between SNK Playmore and Atlus U.S.A. The vaunted fighting game series, which first made its debut 1994, is entering a new evolution with The King of Fighters XIV thanks to series-first 3D graphics and debuting exclusively on the PlayStation 4 console. The King of Fighters XIV will arrive to consoles later in 2016.
Features

  • 3D Evolution: All 50 fighters, movesets and more are rendered in full 3D graphics that preserves the essence of KOF’s visual style but updates it with a whole new dimension.
  • The Best Refinement since KOF ’98: Through extensive playtesting and balancing, the controls have been streamlined, and the Combo and Max Mode mechanics have been overhauled to create the most competitive fighter in SNK’s history.
  • The KOF Saga Continues: There’s a robust single-player storyline where several years have passed since the previous KOF tournament. Now a worldwide business, the global King of Fighters will decide who is the strongest as both individuals and companies with their own ambitions have come to compete. Players compete against CPU-controlled opponents to unlock the storyline.
  • The Best Roster Yet: There are 50 fighters total, with 31 returning from previous entries into the KOF series, and 19 brand new characters. All 50 characters will be available at the game’s launch.
  • Revamped Online Experience: The King of Fighters XIV has devoted a lot of development time to improving the game’s netcode for vastly improved online gameplay. The King of Fighters XIV uses the PS4’s online architecture to have a whole host of online conveniences, from spectating to saving replay/battle data, and having a single online The King of Fighters XIV profile to connect with friends.

The Villains team includes Xanadu, Chang, and Choi, detailed below:

  • Xanadu – This legendary criminal is currently imprisoned in an underground jail. He has ideas and concepts hard to understand for the average person. Xanadu is considered as the “King of the Underground” by the other prisoners. Will he bring back Chang and Choi to their dark days again?
  • Chang Koehan – Once a feared and violent criminal, the two-meter-and-more-tall Chang battles with an enormous iron ball he spins like a tennis ball. Chang trained hard in the past in tae kwon do while under Kim’s “Rehabilitation Project”, but he teams up now with Xanadu.
  • Choi Bounge – Butcher during the day, Choi was once feared as a ripper during the night. Choi gives a hard time to his opponents thanks his super speed and claw attacks. KOF14-Team-Invite-PV.jpg

SNK has released the fourth in its series of “Team Gameplay” trailers for The King of Fighters XIV.

This one introduces the Official Invitation Team.

The Official Invitation Team includes Sylvie, Kukri, and Mian, detailed below via Atlus:

  • Sylvie – A former member of the shadowy NESTS organization, whose modified body allows her to unleash electrical attacks on opponents. While those powers are deadly on their own, what makes her so dangerous is the fact that she’s as nutty as a fruitcake. Apologies, they call that “being quirky” nowadays right? Just look at her crazy eyeball-themed outfit and completely unpredictable attacks!
  • Kukri – The mysterious hooded underground fighter whose gritty personality compliments his ability to wield sand. I mean, just imagine fighting someone who constantly attacks with pocket sand and multiply that by a thousand to get Kukri.
  • Mian – She turns every fight into a performance worthy of the Chinese Opera. She’s skilled at Bian Lian — the art of face-changing — and her attacks involve a lot of graceful and vigorous dance moves.
If you missed it, previous trailers introduced Villains Team, Kim Team, Art of Fighting Team, Fatal Fury Team, Yagami Team, and Japan Team.

SNK has released the eighth in its series of “Team Gameplay” trailers for The King of Fighters XIV. This one introduces the South America Team.
The South America Team includes Bandeiras Hattori, Zarina, and Nelson detailed below via Atlus:

  • Bandeiras Hattori – A self-trained ninja who practices the legitimately dangerous art of, uh, Brazilian ninjutsu (not to be confused with Brazilian jiu-jitsu!). Basically, Bandeiras is a 100% certified Brazilian ninja who wants to win the tournament to earn respect and get students for his dojo.
  • Zarina – The savior of rain forests! She wants to raise money and awareness for the environment, and has zero issues beating up competitors in the name of nature. Zarina will dazzle opponents with her acrobatic Capoeira fighting style and is a strong member of this team. Oh, she’s also bringing along her adorable toucan friend Coco.
  • Nelson – The boxing prodigy who wants to punch his way to the top in order to raise money for a loved one. He lost one of his arms in an accident, but was lucky enough to receive a mysterious cybernetic replacement that you could say gives him the upper hand during fights. With his fancy footwork and nasty hooks, Nelson will be a difficult opponent for anyone.
If you missed it, previous trailers introduced Official Invitation Team, Villains Team, Kim Team, Art of Fighting Team, Fatal Fury Team, Yagami Team, and Japan Team.

SNK has released the ninth in its series of “Team Gameplay” trailers for The King of Fighters XIV. This one introduces the Mexico Team.

The Mexico Team includes the King of Dinosaurs, Angel, and Ramon, detailed below via Atlus:

  • King of Dinosaurs – The tyrannosaur-man is known as the King of Dinosaurs and he’s ready to lead Team Mexico to fame and glory. To be honest, not much is known about the mysterious KOD, but we do know he’s a professional wrestler with a mysterious past, who’s fighting in the tournament for a personal matter. Seriously though, when you’re dressed like a dinosaur, is backstory really all that important? All you need to know is that he’s literally a giant man in a dinosaur costume who bites, claws, and tosses his opponents around like a rag doll.

  • Angel – Angel is a former assassin of NESTS who boasts superhuman strength that allows her to deal some devastating damage. With a vicious combination of Muay Thai strikes and astounding pro wrestling moves, it’ll be tough to outshine her in the tournament.

  • Ramon – The legendary luchador Ramon a.k.a. “The Mightiest Tiger.” The confident Ramon wants to compete for the love of the “sport,” and wants to assist the King of Dinosaurs in his personal quest by throwing down some of his signature moves in the ring.

The South Town Team includes Geese Howard, Billy Kane,

and the newly introduced Hein, detailed below via Atlus:

  • Geese Howard – he notorious crime lord from South Town who reminds me of a villain from a popular 1980s karate kids movie. He utilizes the Hakkyokuseiken style, and mercilessly brutalizes unlucky opponents with a mix of electric strikes and throws. Geese is big, bad, and ready to prove that he’s the strongest fighter on the planet by crushing the competition in the tournament.
  • Billy Kane – The bandana wearing Billy wields a tri-section staff which he uses to teach opponents all about his Bojutsu mastery and affinity for fire.
  • Hein – Hein is ready to fight with his chess inspired fighting style called “Gambit.” When he’s not busy adjusting his glasses and fixing his tie, Hein puts his lanky limbs to deadly use and also appears to control some sort of dark-red energy in combat.

SNK has released the eleventh in its series of “Team Gameplay” trailers for The King of Fighters XIV. This one introduces the China Team.

The China Team includes Shun’Ei , Tung Fu Rue, and Meitenkun, detailed below via Atlus:

  • Tung Fu Rue – A grand master of the Hakkyokuseiken fighting style who has taught many famous students over the years including: Terry Bogard, Geese Howard, and more. Although he may look like a little old man, Tung’s mastery of Chi is second to none and his years of fighting experience is what makes him one of the most dangerous fighters in The King of Fighters. The old grand master is a calm and kind master who seeks to bring out the best in his two new students in the tournament.
  • Shun’ei – A powerful prodigy who was abandoned by his birth parents for possessing mysterious powers. Tung adopted, trained, and raised him like a son, teaching him the ways of Hakkyokuseiken. As a result, Shun’ei has learned to control his powers and enters the tournament to prove himself.
  • Meitenkun – Shun’ei’s best friend and training partner, has a more… sleepy personality. And by sleepy personality, I mean he literally carries around a pillow everywhere because he REALLLY likes his sleep. Don’t be fooled by his lethargic nature though, because Meitenkun fights with an unpredictable sleep boxing style that catches opponents off guard.

KOF14-Ikari-Warriors-PV.jpg

SNK has released the thirteenth in its series of “Team Gameplay” trailers for The King of Fighters XIV.

This one introduces the Ikari Team.
The Ikari Team includes Ralf Jones, Clark Still, and Leona Heidern,

detailed below via Atlus:

  • Colonel Ralf Jones – Nicknamed the One Man Army, who is no stranger to fighting. Although Ralf is a bit hotheaded, he is an exceptional leader who utilizes a dangerous mercenary combat style that focuses on deadly strikes. Oh, did we mention that he’s ripped a tank wide open with his bare hands? Yeah, he’s pretty dangerous.
  • Lieutenant Clark Still – Ralf Jones’ brother in arms, and a pretty dangerous dude too. Clark also trains in mercenary combat style, but he’s geared more towards wrapping his opponents up like a pretzel and slamming them. That being said, he’s calmer and more level-headed than Ralf and just as formidable.
  • Leona Heidern – The cold and professional operator Leona is the adopted daughter of Commander Heidern who uses a hybrid fighting style that combines martial arts with Heidern style assassination techniques. Although she is simply a soldier, she has the powerful blood of Orochi running through her veins and must keep her emotions in check to prevent bad things from happening. She’s not a total ice queen though, because Leona is very loyal to the Ikari Warriors and will fight to protect her friends.
If you missed it, previous trailers introduced Psycho Soldier Team, China Team, South Town Team, Mexico Team, South America Team, Official Invitation Team, Villains Team, Kim Team, Art of Fighting Team, Fatal Fury Team, Yagami Team, and Japan Team.
The King of Fighters XIV is due out for PlayStation 4 in North America on August 23, in Japan on August 25, and in Europe on August 26.

SNK has released the fourteenth in its series of “Team Gameplay” trailers for The King of Fighters XIV. This one introduces the Another World Team.
The Another World Team includes Nakoruru, Mui Mui, and Love Heart, detailed below via Atlus:

  • Nakoruru – She gathered Team Another World and traveled through time and space to The King of Fighters XIV tournament. This nature loving Ainu priestess is sure handy with a sword, and cuts through opponents with her Dancing Sword Arts of the Shikanna-Kamui style. Believe it or not, swordplay is NOT her most dangerous weapon. Oh no, her most dangerous asset is her wonderfully named pet hawk Mamahaha. For example, Mamahaha can dive bomb enemies and pick Nako up into the air to confuse/terrorize opponents. Although Nakoruru is a peace loving gal, she’ll introduce adversaries to a world of hurt if necessary.

  • Mui Mui – A member of a legendary ancient Chinese clan who fights with a powerful Kung Fu style. Even though she’s small in stature, the dragon blood running through her veins gifts her with great strength rivaled only by her voracious appetite. Mui Mui used to protect her clan’s treasure in her world, but accepted Nakoruru’s plea for help in order to track down this being. She won’t go home until the job’s done, but at least she’ll be able to enjoy some of this realms delicious food.

  • Love Heart – The Peace Pirate. Before being selected onto the team, she was busy seeking vengeance against the Skull Pirates for killing her father. Love Heart is a powerful combatant who fights with a sword and great skill, and wants to help finish Nakoruru’s quest as soon as possible to get back to her task.
If you missed it, previous trailers introduced Ikari Warriors Team, Psycho Soldier Team, China Team, South Town Team, Mexico Team, South America Team, Official Invitation Team, Villains Team, Kim Team, Art of Fighting Team, Fatal Fury Team, Yagami Team, and Japan Team.
