The next downloadable content character for The King of Fighters XIV is Oswald, developer SNK announced.


Oswald will be playable for the first time at EVO Japan 2018, which runs from January 26 to 27 at Akiba Square in the Akihabara USDX building.


The King of Fighters XIV is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.

SNK has announced that Heidhern will join The King of Fighters XIV as a downloadable content in April alongside the previously announced Oswald and two additional fighters.

SNK has announced that Najd, the fan-created Saudi Arabian female fighter, will join The King of Fighters XIV as a downloadable content character in April alongside the previously announced Oswald, Heidern, and one additional fighter.




Here is an overview of Najd, via SNK:​

Najd (voiced by Ayaka Fukuhara) is a very quiet person dressed with an Abaya (traditional Saudi garment) with extraordinary powers. At night, she puts on her Abaya and turns into a vigilante to protect her fellow citizens. In contrast to her mysterious appearance, she is a college student during the day.​

The King of Fighters XIV is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.

SNK has released the launch trailer for The King of Fighters ’97 Global Match.


The fighting game re-release adds several new features, including online multiplayer, all characters unlocked from the beginning, “Advanced” and “Extra” battle styles, an artwork gallery, and menu background music soundtracks.


The King of Fighters ’97 Global Match is available now on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The game’s Steam page has yet to surface.

Version 3.00 update due out "in the coming days."

SNK has announced that Blue Mary will join The King of Fighters XIV as a downloadable content character in April alongside the previously announced Oswald, Heidern, and Najd.


Here is an overview of the character, via SNK producer Yasuyuki Oda on the PlayStation Blog:

Blue Mary has always had a very unique fighting style, with moves that are based on the Soviet martial art, Sambo. Her move set includes a lot of grapple moves and as you can see in the trailer, we worked very hard to faithfully recreate all of those bone crunching attacks in The King of Fighters XIV! Blue Mary has always been a challenge to design as a result of how complex her grapple moves are to animate. Back in the day, when we were designing her for Fatal Fury 3, not many people on the team knew much information about Sambo. At one point, one of the designers working on Blue Mary, Youichiro Soeda, actually used me as a training dummy to show off some of the attacks he had in mind to the rest of the team. Just watching this new trailer of hers, I think I can feel my neck hurt a bit…
We got to have a lot of fun while creating Blue Mary for The King of Fighters XIV thanks to the new engine. It was always difficult to put an emphasis on her grappling moves when they were created with 2D sprites, but with The King of Fighters XIV we were able to use the 3D camera and go crazy with the cinematic shots for her flashier moves, which meshed really well with her unique fighting style.

Additionally, SNK announced that the version 3.00 update for The King of Fighters XIV will launch “in the coming days.” In addition to support for the four new characters, the update will also include character balance adjustments.
The King of Fighters XIV is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.

SNK has released the version 3.00 update for The King of Fighters XIV.


Downloadable content characters Oswald, Heidern, Najd (pictured), and Blue Mary will be available later today.




The patch includes bug fixes and character balance updates. Here are the patch notes for the bug fixes:

• Fixed an issue allowing to keep charging charged special moves if a direction key was pressed at a certain timing after special moves successfully charged.
• Throws don’t work anymore from the beginning of a guard stance and until blocking any opponent attack.
• Emergency Evasion, Guard Cancel Emergency Evasion, and Moving Distance properties have been standardized for all characters.
• Hit Stop duration on guard stances specific to guard points against certain projectiles has been changed.
• Collision coefficients for opponents stunned in the air have been changed.
