knockout gas?

Why doesn't Batman just use knockout gas all the time? I mean, wouldn't it be easer to just drop a knockout gas grenade and just let the bad guys fall over by themselves? Of course, this also applies to the police. Yeah I know they use tear gas, but you can't tell me they can't make perfectly safe and reliable knockout gas.

Why?

because it would make a REALLY boring comic character. In real life, yeah there's no reason why he wouldn't.

I'd say the legality of a sleep gas would come into question. Say you gas someone and because of some random medical condition, they don't wake up. Your ass would then be in a sling. And you would be forced to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars defending yourself in court. That and the bad press it would bring the police is probably the reason sleep gas (if it's even available) isn't used. I think the military is working on something. I've always liked the idea of regurgitants (a gas that makes you vomit uncontrollably). The idea of a criminal or various bad-guy puking all over himself always brightens my day.

In my opinion he can't do the Gas all the time because the villains he fights won't be knocked out by it and Batman loves to kick ass so I'd prefer to kick some mob guys butt then knock him out by some gadget. "Sure I got knock out Gas but I'm taking on 300 people.....and the Joker"

wow......what about the concept of entertainment?

I mean....you do realize this is a comic book.....correct? It's meant to be enjoyed. You gotta keep the reader....viewer....entertained by mixing things up. Otherwise, if Batman had only used the ol' knock em and run trick, he'd had never taken off and wouldn't have lasted 70 years and counting.

That, AND he'd be stepping on Sandman's dick. You reaaaallllly don't want do do that. Professional courtesy, anyone? Yeah, even Batman follows that.
