Documentary/Biopic Kobe Bryant Biopic in the Works

Doesn’t quite sound like a biopic in the traditional sense, but I’m sure the casting will be scrutinized…

Sounds like a cute way to avoid the legal trouble.

They're definitely going to gloss over all of the legal issues.

Just like that upcoming movie about Michael Jackson will more than likely do something similar.

As a sports and especially big NBA basketball fan, I am excited for this...
(Eventhough I am not fan of the Los Angeles Lakers,... I'm more on the Boston Celtics side on the rivalry...I'm really sorry @InCali & @Babillygunn 🫣🤭)

My question though is...who will be big & larger than life enough actor to play Shaq? 😁... Shaq was such huge part of Kobe's early career, hope they cover the beef between those 2 as well.

As far as I know, no one (at least among basketball fans and all NBA media) had even brought that rape allegations against Kobe anymore.

In fact, Kobe's image had gone up since his death, fans that used to slander him, now turned to praise him and label him as the Goat to the point that everything is dedicated to Kobe's memory.

So, i suspect the allegations will be glossed over here (maybe out of respect to his memories and to Vanessa, his widow and his other 3 daughters).

The legal issues won't even factor in since this appears to be taking place entirely in 1996.

There were some really, really good players in the draft in 96. I'd venture to say more than usual. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they picked Todd Fuller in front of Kobe Bryant. The Lakers are lucky they had Jerry West and he hadn't yet gone to Golden State. LOL We talk about bad trades a lot, but that has got to be among the worst EF ups ever. Some teams didn't do their homework and even sniff Bryant. After Jerry West got back from watching the workout he had with Kobe Bryant, he told one of his colleagues "I just got back from the best workout I've ever seen in my life". He would fall that far in today's game.

I'd be more excited if they could land a difference maker. :funny: I kind of expect this to be a relatively down year for the Lakers. I think their talent falls off a shelf after Bron, Luka, and Austin. That's not to say they don't have some talent with Rui and Ayton. I didn't like losing Finney-Smith, but I guess they couldn't sign him as they are obviously clearing space for 2027. I hate to be a Danny Downer, but I could see the Lakers falling out of the playoffs and being a lottery team. Not a high lottery team, but a lottery team nevertheless. They have a 1st round pick (for now LOL) next year, so maybe they can find some value there.

I find these "event" biopics far more interesting than the life story ones. 2pac is prime pickings for a film like this.
