Kong from the 2005 movie wasn't CGI. Andy Serkis transformed into a giant gorilla. He used the same shape shifting powers as Gollum in Lord of the Rings.

This is shaping up to be a surprise methinks.

Colour me impressed. Really looking forward to this.

i pray we get this weekend a confirm when the trailer hits next week

Reminds me of the 1976 Kong:

I wonder if they will make him sympathetic or just a monster?

Not bad this kong. Still have to see it in full action.

Nevertheless, I prefer the 2005 Kong. Showed some sympathy in the face, has clearly had a rough time and was a size that was more or less 'acceptably believable' - even though there was documentary once about it that Kong could never live for real that size because the weight would result he could not move like that. In other words, no way to grow that big, so bigger is badder.

Also, this kong is just too large for me to enjoy. Godzilla was trash and the size and story bollocks. This Kong seems to be similar in size? Talk about nonsense. The giant blood hand on the mountain ? I'm losing interest FAST in this movie.

Even more because the KingKong story on how he was 'won over' by the beautifull girl somehow, and then climbing up the Empire State Building to get shot to doom really won't happen in this movie i'm sure, this Kong really isn't fit for it either. Too.damn.big.

Also, why do all these animals have to 'vent' evil so much? They're always angry, like Rexes.

Still ready to give this a chance, but my expectations are dropping like crazy.

As of this moment it is expected to be released Thursday. But as the Beauty and the Beast thread has shown - plans change. But my friend in MPAA says the current plan for Skull Island trailer is Thursday

What happened with the BATB trailer? I'm still expecting the trailer on Monday.

This post.

I...don't know how to properly respond to it.

I knew the MPAA had the trailer two weeks ago, and their information was that they will released it on the 11th (today) but Disney's live Facebook Q&A for Monday made them switch from Friday to Monday.

The BATB trailer will be on Monday.

MPAA information on Skull Island is they will released it Thursday, but the studio might change their mind. Let's hope it's for a sooner release :cwink:

I'm confused. What's the difference between the Kong's we've seen so far??

Other than the size, I guess 2005 Kong was portrayed more sympathetic in comparison to the other interpretations.

Still too early to say what this Kong's personality will be like from that one picture.

Have we seen the new Kong in action yet?

Well, we saw his arm in the first trailer hit that military helicopter and sending it spinning out of control.

I guess it could also be argued that he threw that tree trunk that knocked down the first helicopter we saw in the trailer.

I have to assume you aren't really in the loop on this film. Kong is supposed to fight Godzilla in 2020 or something like that so it's safe to gather that Kong won't die and he won't be making it to any city. Since in Godzilla there was no mention of other monster attacks on any major cities and Kong is entering the canon of the Legendary Godzilla film there's really only three ways this film could end, none of them involve new york city, and all of them keep Kong a secret from the public.

Yeah. It's a completely new take on the Kong mythos.

Peter Jackson's King Kong has been around for nearly 10 years. You had a decade to watch and rewatch it, digest it, nitpick and overanalyze it, and let it resonate with you. You also had 10 years to admire the various art books and behind the scenes docs to make you appreciate the magic and wonder that Jackson brought to the movie. You had 10 years to debate, defend, and have discussions about the film.

You have one medium resolution still pic of the new Kong, from a movie that's not even out yet, so your talk of believability and sympathy is completely baseless. Do you have any self-awareness of what you just said?
