Which characters do you think would work better for film? which do you think the general audience would connect more with? And who do you find to be the more interesting character?

I've liked Wally West since I first saw the Justice League animated series. He was the funny guy that everyone (at least that I knew) loved. I always find the episodes with him in it to be the best. (Like when he's talking to one of his villains in a bar, asking him what's wrong, and if he's taken his meds today, that was classic! And when he makes his own "Flashmobile") Granted, I haven't read many comics of WW, but the JL version would be great to see in live action. I do like Barry Allen (I don't find him as boring as everyone else does) He's always trying to do what's right, no matter what. I loved the dialogue between him & Hal in Blackest Night. But in the end, I prefer Wally West

I started reading Green Lantern comics with Rebirth. Hal's characterization in Rebirth, Secret Origin, Sinestro Corp Wars was great. But everything else I've read him in, he seems a little dull. I do like Hal a lot ( I thought RR did a great job in the film as Hal.) But I've been reading Kyle Rayner issues recently, and he seems like a much more interesting character. I would love to see his story on the big screen. Him being the only GL left was always an interesting idea that I liked. Hal turning to the darkside and killing the corp off was a little crazy, but it did make for an interesting read.

Anyways what do you guys think?

Hal and Wally. I'v never read a Kyle book that I've like his personality in.

I actually like Barry just not the one we deal with today but the one from the silver and bronze age. He's such a cool and fun character too bad they try to make him so one note and depressed now a days. I mean I still read the stories. I don't downright hate the current incarnation either but it's just not the same character at all and it's reflected in how bland he's been presented at times since his return. They've taken what makes him fun (he genuinely does this cause he has powers and is a good person so he wants to help people) and made him have a tragic past like Batman which doesn't really suit him well just makes him seem generic.

With that said I would like for a Flash movie to deal with the legacy aspect somehow. It's such a major factor of the mythos and would help it bring something fresh to superhero movies. So I'd like to see Wally as the star. Though you could still do that by having Jay in it and then say he's gotten out of touch & is overwhelmed with the evolution of crime (the rogues) which paves the way for a more modern hero like Barry. You could play around with it.

For GL though I also like Kyle I'd say definitely Hal. Then build up to the other human GL's along the way. Unfortunately with the way they mucked it up recently I don't think we'll ever see a PROPER GL movie. But if they decide to then definitely Hal. But don't make the same mistake twice. The first act for the current movie as it was wasn't all that bad aside from the flashback but the minute he went to Oa he should've never returned to earth till the 3rd act at most. So a new GL movie should follow the First Flight example.

Have him go on patrol under Sinestro's mentorship bonding with him and meeting other corps members and getting into space adventures along the way. In other words introducing both Hal and the audience to this greater universe simultaneously and having some actual CHARACTER interactions involved and no glorified cameos. The best sci-fi works with general movie audiences not just cause of the fun concepts but because of the heart. The current GL movie had the former but not the latter at all and that is why it never resonated.

Not because it's not possible for it to but because of poor execution. If they would've scaled back a bit instead of hiring people that don't really care and were trying to fit 2 movies worth of material into the first movie they could've already done that considering the budget they had to work with. C'est la vie.

Just go training day with the reboot. Add some secret origin stuff and you'll get a good movie.

I literally like them all except Hal. Hal's just not an interesting character.

I like them all too. :D

I have only read the recent Barry Allen stuff. I've read some older Hal Jordan comics (Emerald Dawn/Emerald Twilight) and liked it.

I'd like to see Sinestro training Hal. Seeing Hal's reaction to Sinestro's more brutal side of justice would be cool to see on the big screen. More Sinestro in a film would be awesome :P

I think Kyle's more interesting to read about. I just finished reading "A New Dawn" tonight. Finished it in one sitting. Kept me interested the whole time. Some of the more emotional panels were really good. I could see his story connecting more with the GA. He reminds me a bit of Peter Parker, except Kyle has a little bit more of a cocky attitude. (At least from "A New Dawn" he does, he could grow out of that in later issues.)

Hal and Wally.

Wally would be the better choice for a Flash film too

I like them all except Kyle, who I find extremely annoying. That and I'm very happy to see the end of Kyle as "the one and only Green Lantern". :whatever:

^Exactly. Although I do prefer Wally, I wouldn't mind seeing Barry on screen. My favorite Green Lanterns(human):Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, John Stewart(always though Guy was kind of pointless and Kyle would work better as a Superman character like in S:TAS).

Didn't Kyle have Hal's origin in S:TAS?

I liked Kyle being the only Green Lantern for awhile. It was something new to try, and I liked it. I'm glad the Corp is back, though.

Wally West in the Justice League cartoon and in the comics are two different animals.

I say Barry Allen, he's more accesible and most synonymous with The Flash. He's the "iconic" one. They pretty much used his character on the JL/JLU show anyway, just gave him Wally's name and Bart's personality.

Looking forward to the new series. :D

The Flash that appeared in JL/JLU was closer to Bart Allen, so, whatever. But I would rather have Hal & Barry. Mainly because they are where the stories begin, that is who should be there, Kyle's story is entirely dependent on Hal as Green Lantern and if Wally is the first Flash, then it misses out a whole chunk of his character, like having Nightwing instead of Robin, also it can work better because, they can add the whole legacy stirrings for the film. It's easier to build a franchise on Hal & Barry than Kyle & Wally.

I have to agree with some of the other people in here. I prefer Hal, and I feel like he was definitely the best way to start the film series. I like Kyle (and John and Guy), but his story is so dependent on Hal's. As far as the Flashes go, I was a big Flash fan when Johns was writing the book and it starred Wally. I really dug Wally in his book, so would follow him to other books sometimes. I can't really get into Barry. However, you need Barry to set up Wally. I think a Barry movie could work. He just can't be as bland as he is currently being written. I think the legacy nature of Flash would be great. Maybe have the movie be about Barry, but definitely acknowledge Jay. Maybe have him interact with Jay some, like the two Nite Owls in Watchmen. They could introduce Wally as just his nephew in the first movie, then have the sequel turn him into Kid Flash and have a threat that requires all three Flashes to defeat.

Kyle was Hal with a different name in S;TAS, and Wally was a combination between himself and Barry(the forensic scientist, which I liked).

Ahhh, okay. Thanks. :woot: Haven't seen many S:TAS episodes.

I can understand wanting to start with Hal & Barry. But who knows where the GL film franchise is going. I was hoping for a sequel, but it's looking very less likely. So they might try something new with a new GL as the star.

Kyle & Wally would be cool to see in the Justice League movie, if it ever gets made.

Kyle- because I like the idea of the green lantern being an artist. It relates more to his power IMO, and comes off more interesting to me.

and Barry- because truthfully, I find both him AND Wally fairly boring in the comics. Most people seem to pick wally due to JLU, and as said, that's more Bart Allen. Hell Bart wasn't even that funny during his brief stint as the Flash.
Whichever they do, they're gonna have to write him better than they do in the comics, and might as well start with Barry, since the others are only really relevent as follow-ups to his legacy.

Yeah, I thought that made a lot of sense for a GL to be an artist. He can be more intricate/creative with his constructs than the others. Plus he makes DBZ/Star Wars and other cool references in the comics. :awesome: I always liked his mask/costume too.
