Hmm, perhaps. I like the Pacific and I have the bluray set... but something about it isn't as good as BoB. Every time I watch BoB I just feel like I'm part of their group.

They seriously did a fantastic job at getting you to know the guys of Easy and really care about them. I also wish the Pacific had interviews with the Survivors at the beginning much like BoB did.

Not that I didn't care about the guys in the Pacific. Sledge and Snafu are the most fleshed out.

Yea i feel ya. Iv got the Pacific on Blu Ray but havent finished it. When i started watching BoB, i didnt stop until it was complete.

From my experience, there is no "down time", you are always on a case, ie theres always an objective to head towards. Now that doesnt mean you HAVE to go there immediately, you can go where ever you want. I was hoping for a system where you can pick multiple cases from your desk and choose which one to go with, but it seems as tho as soon as one case ends, you are on to another.

Kind of. As you are driving around, an APB may come through your radio and you can choose to respond to the call or not. Those are part of the 40 non case missions.

Theres also like 25 secret cars to find.

Thanks, that's good to know. I was also hoping you could chose which cases to pursue first, kind of like in RDR how you could chose which towns/missions to complete in whichever order you wanted. Not that it's a dealbreaker, but having that option is always a good thing IMO.

At least there's the APB missions, I suppose.

Lot of L.A. Confidential nods in this game.

These damn UPS people. WHERE THE F*** IS MY GAME :cmad:

Hey, at least you're getting yours today. My game is stuck in another state right now, even though I requested release date delivery. I hate my life.:csad:

I can't understand why people are upset that you can't go around killing people and driving like maniac, but at the same time, I think its great that you can't do that because it separates this game from GTA comparisons, like the way RDR was considered by many to just be GTA in the Wild West. If the game is good, then it should be good for what it is and not be lessened by what its not. I mean, Mafia II let you go around and kill people, but that didn't mean that it was one in the same as GTA. There are many other aspects of the game that should be taken into account.

These damn UPS people. WHERE THE F*** IS MY GAME :cmad:
They usually don't deliver to my house until 5pm at the earliest and 9pm at the latest. Sometime around 7 is usually the average though. But my mom is thinking about going out now until tonight which sucks because I won't be home until 10, so chances are I'll have to wait for a re-delivery tomorrow night.

did anyone get the gamestop edition with the badge pursuit challenge. The game comes with a packet of pictures on film slides and each picture is I'm guessing a location of a badge. It's really cool

So far...the game has been impressive for me. Just made detective, and got through the tutorial cases.

The game is open world, but it's not like GTA. There aren't missions that you get from icons on the map, per se. The icons show up once your on a case, or once you accept a call from an APB. You're essentially a Detective putting together the pieces. Doing that will get you from place to place. The story is pretty linear, Cole is set up as the good doer, so him becoming a renegade like RDR allows wouldn't jive with the story setup.

I'll post more when I play more, but so far it's pretty much what it's been billed as: a detective simulation with heavy emphasis on Noir.

I believe collecting stuff, like cars...secret cars too...badges (from the Gamestop pre-order), landmarks, newspapers (that unlock backstory cutscenes), and taking calls from the APB all sound like cool things to do when not working cases. Pat is 100% correct in how he described it too, the cases go right into the other. They're broken up like chapters of a novel, with a title card and the narrator setting up what's next.

Yeah, me and my brother figured that must be it. Screentshots in the film slides of the locations of the badges. The film slides, and the evidence packet were nice touches.

Yeah I thought the film slides was just a great touch that they didn't have to do but they did anyways.

lol when I opened the packet and poured them out I was surprised, pretty rad.

I have a couple of questions, and Im wondering if any of you fine American gents would answer them for your British friend? :)

1 What happens if you commit any wrongdoing? Cause Im usually a pretty bad driver on GTA,and I end up accidentally running people over...and also engage in the odd murder spree :woot:

2 Does it handle like GTA? Like does the general feeling of Cole feel like the clunky movement of Niko or the more smoother feel like John from RDR?

Thank you,kindly....NOW ANSWER ME YOU DOGS :hehe:

Taking advantage of the trade in offers at Gamestop, and picking this up. Is it REALLY worth it? I have a passion for true crime stories, and anything set in the 30's/40's. It's right up my alley, but I thought I should ask first.

1. I haven't committed any wrongdoings myself, but I do know that it will affect your final score when you close a case. Since your always on a case, if you cause property damage or cause damage to your vehicle, or cause injuries, it deducts from Coduct which deducts from the final star score they award at the end of a case.

2. More like Red Dead. The control scheme is slightly different, too. No button presses when running towards a scalable wall. The Shooting is alot like Red too.

When you are not working on a case, what can you do? Are there more stuff for the downtime aside from collecting cars?

Mine just came in! Except Im going out at 7.
WIll definitely be playing this all of tomorrow

I think you answered your own question, if you love crime stories and the 40's this game was basically made for you. Just keep in mind its not an action game by any means although the car chases are absolutely fantastic

Well ur techinaclly never not on a case. There's always a case objective to head to. Besides finding the landmarks, responding to apbs and collecting cars the only thing else to do is finish your case.

Just made it to Homicide. 7 cases in. Disappointed isn't strong enough.

I'm not saying the game isn't good. It's pretty good, but I can't help but feel cheated whenever I look at that little Rockstar symbol on the box. This game had soooo much potential, but I feel like it falls flat. Because they decided to follow the route of a cop, they destroyed a large majority of things to do. Cops can't do much other than their work, and this game, unfortunately, shows that. Every case, and I mean every case, follows the same pattern. Investigate, question, investigate, question, investigate, question, shoot and chase, win. Mix in a random shoot-out or brawl somewhere in there and you have this game in a nutshell. Not to mention, they difficulty just SPIKES at one point. During the third Traffic case, the suspects never show face and never give hint to evidence. While I'm fine with it being realistic, they do it without warning. I practically failed that mission due to using the "truth" selection too much.

The shooting is lackluster and dull with little to no kick with terrible
"auto-auto-aim" where the bullet hits the person despite no cursor being there. Driving is appropriate for the time, but weird. Cars turn with absolute perfect curves and never really show damage; another problem. Cars can stop working after taking enough damage which you will take a lot due to some TERRIBLE civilian AI. If you approach a car from the side, at an intersection, they just stop. NO ONE DOES THIS! You see a car coming at you from the right? You move! So many of my cars have broken down due to this. And what makes it worse is how big the city is. I enjoy having a big city, don't get me wrong, but other than hidden cars and random, boring dispatches (and the badge challenge for you pre-order people) there isn't anything to do. The option to have your partner drive, which acts as a fast-travel tool is nice, but I feel like I'm cheating when I do it and I miss dialogue doing that. The animations and sound are of course terrific and 1947 L.A. is beautiful.

While this game isn't BAD it doesn't even bat an eye at RDR or GTA. There are too many design and mission flaws, coupled with poor shooting and AI for it to go above and beyond despite its AMAZING innovation. I will definitely be finishing it and reaching for the 100% completion mark, but I cannot find myself enjoying this too much more than what I am now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game opens up more after it's over. You can then go around and do whatever. APB's, news paper, cars, ect.

Did you go in EXPECTING GTA/RDR? Because they've been saying for years now that it's not going to be GTA or RDR. They've been saying "Detective simulator" for... well, for as long as I can remember.

Not being jerky, just generally wondering.

I was expecting a LITTLE GTA, and I GOT a little GTA. Problem? Those parts aren't nearly as polished.

I jsut got odne from playing 3 and a half hours of this game. Personally? i think it's fantastic. I would have liked euphoria and a few gameplay (rthe shooting) mechanics being upped here and there, but overall? a great game so far.
