Yeah, I'm about 2 hours in, and while I like it a lot, I can see a lot of people being turned off by it.
I was thinking the same thing when I first started playing. The bodies don't look quite right, almost cartoony at time and dis-proportioned. But the faces and the expressions look amazing.the problem with the facial animation is that they don't look right on the bodies. The faces are so amazing looking and the bodies and bodily animations just don't look right sometimes.
Its an adventure game, its a very fun one for sure with some great production values but ultimately aside from the facial animations I don't think its going to turn too many heads GOTY time.
And that's fine honestly, its nice to see people handling the genre on a mainstream level other than Telltale. I'm about 5 hours in and I definitely don't regret my purchase at all. Its a lot like playing the cop parts of Law and Order, just set in the 40's.

Did you guys turn on "black and white"? It kind of makes the body issue vanish.
Can't get past the first mission cause there's a HUGE glitch that's causing my PS3 to suddenly switch off whenever it tries to save my progress during that mission. I'm able to turn the system back on just fine, and it works fine with all my other films and games, just not this one. Looked it up online and it turns out I'm not the only one having this EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Fortunately, Rockstar's aware of this and they're gonna release a patch to try and fix it soon, but right now they're currently investigating this glitch further. Anyone else having this issue?
Not quite like this. I dunno how to explain it properly but it's much different than those Sherlock Holmes or Nancy Drew games on the PC.
I'm not really liking the lack of a waypoint system while I'm driving.
I'm a little disappointed in the b/w filter. It looks OK, but it doesn't look as high-contrasty as I wanted it to, especially after the tease that is the main menu. There's also no in-game option for contrast, just brightness.
So, while a neat option, I don't think I'll ever play the game with it on for more than a few minutes.
Not quite. If the lighting is handled properly (which in 99% of proffesional cases is true), then converting to black and white really isn't an issue. For example, take any proffessional picture into photoshop and convert to black and white. There won't be a problem. Simple as that.I hope the B&W is good. Like 3D, converting something from colour to black-and-white or vice versa requires some effort, making sure characters or clothes or backgrounds don't blend into each other.
