Transformers Lack of meaning - What's this movie about?

do you like anything about the transformers?

Optimus dying was pretty much at the begining of the movie. Megatron/Galvatron's mission to retrieve the Matrix was also pretty much at the begining. When Galvatron destroyed Starsream their mission at thet time was to retrieve the Matrix or Unicron would punish him with the red pain.

Their mission. The Decepticons' mission. But not the plot of the movie, as in what the protagonists' are doing.

^. Same. Actually the death of Starscream is when my interest in the movie starts to decline. At that point, it doesn't feel like G1 TF's anymore.

And it's not supposed to, Hasbro needed new toys and what better way to introduce them than to kill off the old ones and start over with the survivors? I bet even Hasbro didn't think, however, that this movie would be better than an extended TV show.

Is this thread about bashing Transformers the movie? I love criticizing that movie. It had an awful plot. A poor introduction to knew and annoying characters. A galactic villian who was afraid of a tiny thin called the matrix yet he was too stupid to realize that putting the matrix inside of him was a bad idea? If anyone wants me to post the link to one of the most negative transformers movie reviews ever I'll do it.

LOL. From that review.... if you substitute a few names (Megatron for Unicron for instance) I swear to god you have Michael Bay's Transformers movie (based on the leaked script).

Unicron [Megatron] is essentially the king daddy
of all plot devices, a giant threat put in soley for the purpose of having
a giant threat, without any explanation or relevance to the characters.
Worse still, the giant threat is removed by a simplistic application of
yet another plot device, the Matrix. No application of wit, force,
sacrifice, or intelligence by the characters is involved; the character
who just *happened* to have the Matrix just *happens* to be fighting the
one character who can open the Matrix, and they just *happen* to be inside
Unicron [Megatron] at the time when Hot Rod [Sam/Spike in this case] just *happens* to grab it.
