I just got some region one DVDs throught the post and I only have my laptop with me at uni so I need to unlock the region code. I google and all I find are codes for appliances. My player is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA device.

Making a pcs Dvd drive a different region is harder than normal dvd players for your tv, you cant simply punch in a code and make it work, you have to flash the drive and put different firmware on it that could void your warranty.

I know nothing about firmware for dvd drives, but i cant point you in the right direction of a site i found, but i suggest reading EVERYTHING before doing anything.

P.s also if you change it to region 1 you wont play region 2 (uk) dvds on it, so i would look for region 0 which is all of them

I was under the impression that VLC ignored region codes but when I downloaded it I got no picture and only sound. In Media player classic and KM player my DVD was just pixellated. maybe firmware is not the best option?

Your on about different software there, the firmware is what will "unlock" the dvd player so you can play R1 dvds in the power dvd or something.

May i suggest a better/easier option of buying a portable philips dvd player and unlocking that to region free?
