Laptops

In the past, I've always rolled my eyes when someone told me to get a Mac.

"I need to run Windows. I have too many games and apps that run on Windows."
"You can boot Windows on a Mac, now!"
"Then why the **** don't I just get a PC? They come with Windows and cost half as much."

But now that XP has been discontinued and Vista is the new Windows standard, I say get a Mac. It's not like getting Windows Vista will provide you with better application compatibility.

There's still Directx 10 to worry about.

ive got a macbook 13 inch, and i dont think i could go back to windows. it just runs so good.

oh and its black. the white ones discolor i have heard.

I spilled milk on my Macbook a few days ago, and now it's on the fritz. I'm taking it in to get repaired in a few days. I miss it dearly.

Dont get a Mac! In the words of the immortal Charlie Brooker Mac's are expensive Fisher Price toys for grown-ups. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and its served me pretty well, go to their website and you can customise it yourself.... Cheap too. Relatively.

:whatever:

None of Brooker's reasons for hating Macs are based on technical merit. It's pretty much just all emotion and drama with a dash of urban legend and disinformation about the Mac platform mixed in. Every platform has it's uses and anymore it really comes down to personal preference because anymore, quite frankly, Macs and PC's really don't do much of anything that the other can't do in varying degrees of excellence. If you're going to hate a platform, at least have some solid technical reasons for doing so. Brooker has none from everything I've ever seen out of his banal rants on the subject other than "I just hate Macs" and to be honest I get the sense that the last time he touched a Mac was when the Apple IIe's were on the market. Most Mac users, on the other hand, have had plenty of experience with Windows and a lot of us continue to use both platforms for various reasons such as corporate requirements in the work environment or a certain piece of CAD software that necessitates using Windows. But people who say things like "Macs are Fischer-Price toys" obviously have absolutely no clue what they are talking about and haven't truly used a Mac in decades if ever.

Cheers,
jag
