We know that Lau is an Asian Accountant in Gotham from China played by Chin Han. We also know that he has scenes with Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox. In the production schedule recently posted on Ebay the first scene is "Gordon finds Lau neatly wrapped and addressed to him." Does this mean that Lau is arrested, or maybe captured by Batman. I find the "neatly wrapped and addressed" part to be very interesting. Now Lau probably won't have a large role in the film at all, but I think he is becoming a very intriuging character at this point. With filming taking place in Hong Kong soon, maybe we will see more of this mysterious Mr. Lau?

He is arrested and makes a deal with Harvey Dent for a list of clients - that is what we know.

When I first read "Gordon finds Lau neatly wrapped and addressed to him" I took it literally and thought it sounded like a possible Joker stunt, but it could be Batman, too, I suppose, or it could mean something entirely different.

Some fella comes to Gordon and says he needs to sign for Lau.

With Lau.....I'm interested to know if there'll be Batman action in Hong Kong. Remember they were rehearsing a stunt sequence for HK, someone taking a dive off a building and hanging from a helicopter. In the sides...when "Faulkner" lands in Hong Kong an assistant mentions that Lau can't be present personally because of "legal dificulties", i.e. maybe he's been apprehended by Batman already.

They also did a 2 man stunt where both were yanked off the building by the helicopter. Didn't look particularly Batmanish but I guess he lands on the roof then jumps off with Lau.

When they filmed the first Dent press conference one of the questions was about Batman having a hand in Lau's extradition

^ Yes, that too

so in all there's reason to speculate we might see Batman swinging around in HK. It would fit with Nolans ideas from BB about "expanding the world Batman inhabits", people thought it was weird to see Bruce hanging around with ninjas in Asia, and it was great, it really established that this Batman movie was "different" from the outset. Having him throttle accountants in Honk Kong will be just as striking and curious. I can see it being a great WTF re-introduction scene for Batman, our first look for TDK.

But why would Batman be in Hong Kong in the first place? There must be some connection with the Joker or the mob or something. I can't see him just waking up one morning and saying to himself, "I think I'll go fight some crime in Hong Kong today."

Well, yea. Lau's part of Dent's Maroni prosecution by the looks of it, so possibly they decide Batman should go to HK to speed things up.

mate I didn't write the script, I dunno. If we could all figure out this movie at a glance none of us would be here :cwink:

there'll be a reason for everything that happens in the movie. Sasquatchs is probably onto something, Gotham crooks use accountants in Hong Kong. It's a globalised world, you know :word: :O

If he is connected with Maroni, than I can see Bats going to Hong Kong to bring him in. Lau likely has information that could put Maroni behind bars, so yeah, I am sure Bats would want that.

I thought Lau was working for Wayne Enterprises - part of an outfit that rebuilds Wayne Manor (and the cave) in secret. Bruce can't put that new cave together by himself...

Well when I look at the narrows in Begins, it reminds of parts of Hong Kong (tight alleyways with large overpopulated like buildings). I could definetly see them using HK as the Gotham at night more than even Chicago and London. It all depends on compisition I suppose.

There may be some Bruce Wayne action in HK, but I think Batman will be reserved for Gotham.

For a guy who takes security serious enough to actually use various dummy companies to order disassembled pieces to create his cowl, it makes little sense to appear as Batman outside of Gotham when Wayne can be traced as being in the same location at the same time.

Yeah, I took it to mean Joker delivered his corpse wrapped up in nice package or whatever, but the Batman theory makes more sense.

most likely scenario with Lau is that he is an accountant and is helping Maroni (and possible other Gotham mob bosses) launder money (and perhaps the Scarecrow obtaining the blue flowers he needs from Asia). Dent and Gordon need him to make the Maroni case and Bruce finds out through Rachael. Bruce has Wayne corp interests in HK so he goes over there to oversee them and while he's in town Batman just so happens to nab Lau and extradite him back to Gotham.

So is Lau Mr. Thau's cousin or brother??

Second Cousin thrice removed.

Do you think Lau will be like Richard Daniels in LH were he imbessels money from Waye Industries to the mob?
