she earned the nickname Hanoi Jane.
She visited Vietnam, and basically dissed the U.S. Government by calling all the former POW's "hypocrites and liars" because she said they had never recieved torture when she visited them.
There is evidence(John McCain) that says she is in fact the liar.
She was viewed a very unpatriotic and it was almost like she comforted America's enemies.
She spit on Soldiers, which cause her friend John Wayne to never speak to her again.

I don't recall anyone saying they 'hate' him, just that they didn't like him.

I haven't really cared much for U2 since the mid-80s. I don't really care for his 'preachiness'.

In general, I'm not really that fond of celebrities who use their status to try to tell me how I should think or act or how I should spend my money... well, that is, of course, unless I agree with them.

In real life (not on the internet etc..) the least hated (most liked) celebrity is Michael J. Fox. Even the teamsters who worked on his films loved the guy. This was even before he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Go figure...one of the most well liked celebrities in the business is Canadian. Says a lot about how Americans appreciate (or don't) opportunities.

Seriously, when I was living in Los Angeles and working in the business I had a bunch of friends who worked as grips, lens pullers, etc...and I remember that all of them said that MJFox was loved by everyone who had ever worked on one of his projects (even the Teamsters and they don't really like celebrities at all).
