Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

Looks good. At least theres no giant babies this time around.

That we know of...

I've seen it....and yeah, I prefer playing it in 1st person mode for strictly and pure survival horror experience (3rd person is more like action perspective).

OMG...getting chased by that thing in 1st person looks very terrifying and will be more immersive for a horror experience, imo. I can't wait!!

I think a reason why you will be able to toggle between 1st and 3rd is that we are going to get both kinds of gameplay in the game. Grace's sections will likely be where you want the 1st/RE7 experience, while [redacted] will be 3rd/RE4.

Or babes.

:rimshot:

That we know of...

Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, from the team behind Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 4 remake.

I wonder if they would use "Code Veronica" or come up with something else. I always thought it was a bad title, and they should have called it as Resident Evil 4 or Resident Evil 4: Veronica.

1-2-3-Code Veronica-0-4-5-6-7-Village-Requiem

I kinda hate that.

Welp, that was just confirmed.

I just want to know who the **** do they have working on Monster Hunter Wilds to have screwed up the RE Engine that badly, if they can get the RE 7-9 working on the goddamn Switch 2.

Eh, footage still looked rough to be honest (Grace's hair :funny:). Still, they have months to polish and the S2 supports DLSS so the performance should be better if Capcom implements that.

As for MHW, I guess RE Engine may not be optimized/made for big open maps. And on top of that, you have the usual story of game devs doing the most basic optimizations (or lack thereof) on PC.

I mean, yeah, it is clearly a downgrade in visuals. As for Wilds, I saw what the Rise team did, and am wondering what the **** the Wilds team were doing....

Game needs a page one rewrite. It wouldn't be a remake at that point, but a full blown replacement. RE 5 sucks ass so it wouldn't bother me personally but that game has its die hard fans. I think not touching five or six is probably the best course of action.

Its not in the works because they are remaking Zero and Code Veronica at the same time, under different teams.

After Code Veronica: and Zerø, I want them to remake 1 again. Then release a 3rd person version of VII.

Time will tell if they would skip 5 and 6.

You're not getting 3rd person 7 until they remake it in 15 years. There is a mod for PC that'll do it though. I would bet with almost 100% certainty that we will never see official remakes of five or six. Five needs a page one rewrite and as six might be the worst game Capcom has made in a flagship franchise of the HD era. I made the mistake recently of suffering through Leon's campaign then suffering through half of Redfeilds which felt like a janky cod campaign with monsters. Then I abandoned the game entirely. You don't invest 250 million in remaking a game that only RE completionists want. It doesn't make fiscal sense.

A 3rd person VII shouldn't take too much time, given they've done the same thing to Village. Who knows if they wait for the 10th anniversary, to finally release it.

I could see Capcom doing a drastic remake (like RE3R), to RE5 and RE6, than skipping them and jumping to REVIIR, after RE0R, RECVR AND RE1RV2.

I'll quit beating around the bush then: I do not see Capcom remaking the most transparently racist video game they've ever made in a mainline franchise. RE5 needs a page 1 rewrite and at that point, its not RE5 anymore and remaking 6 is waste of time and money. It makes zero fiscal sense remake a complete dud.

Re5 and 6 are numbered games. You've mentioned about 7 getting a remake in 15 years, and I really don't think they would remake it while skipping 5 and 6. Page 1 rewrite or a remake them like RE3R. I don't think its entirely possible.

CV and Zerø, which are both currently in production. They should come out probably in the next 4 to 5 years, and RE1R should be in development by then. After those 3 remakes, Capcom would want more. They've gone out of their way to remake so many Re games (five games since Re2), and they could easily do a new and better version of RE5/6 if they want to. I think they would when RE1RV2 sells well, and it probably would since RE1 is one of the more popular games in the franchise.

Being a numbered sequel doesn't really matter. I don't think you understand how much money goes into triple A game dev these days. 100 - 250 million on average. Capcom is not gonna blow that kind of money on titles with that much baggage. The ROI isnt there and they already run on modern hardware just fine. I was going through RE6 on a steam deck.

Btw, these are the rumoured release for the next 2 remakes, posted in August.

A new RE game every year from 2026 to 2028. I'm not confident about the next remake coming out in 2027, but by 2028, one of the new remakes should be out by then.

Hopefully one of the teams, quickly gets RE1Rv2 after their remake is out.
