The Dark Knight Ledger to be nominated as Best Actor?

Hope not, I'd rather he win Best Supporting Actor than lose Best Actor.

He has a better shot at winning best supporting.. but it would be amazing to see him win best actor..

let me dream! lol

yup,

hmm, i'm all in for any ledger nomination.. but as "best actor", kinda takes credibility away from Bale as the films lead..

Best Actor would be a wrong move, and an inaccurate one. Ledger did not lead this film, as it was an ensemble piece.

Just give him the Best Supporting nod already, and give him the win. Everyone damn well knows that there hasn't been a single supporting performance this year that has matched Ledger's in acclaim, hype, and iconic status. It's such a shoe-in, that I'd be shocked if this doesn't turn out to happen.

No and no. This film revolves around Batman. This is like saying Aaron Eckhart should be nominated for best actor. Both he and ledger had equally compelling performances. Ledger should be up for best supporting actor, thats it.

Yes masta. :whatever:

I'm for anything. If he has the best chance at winning the best supporting award which I think he does, thats great. amazing and so on but if he has a good chance to win best actor, why not? I hate that "lead" stuff, if your being looked at as the best actor then you should be up for best actor. I love Bale but Ledger was the best actor in TDK

This is good news, as I think he could really win. And this makes Eckharts chances better for best supporting. He makes his own luck.

Haha the good thing about Batman Begins/TDK quotes is they never get old.

The Joker supports nobody. He takes the lead :oldrazz:

I'd be very, very happy with a supporting nod and win for Mr. Ledger. He definitely deserves something though!

Ideally both Eckhart and Ledger would be nominated for an Oscar.

I agree completely. Also crook, where is your avy from?

I don't think it would be a good idea... Stay with Supporting Actor. Heath will have a much better chance at winning.

Brad Pitt will win Best Actor for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", and I don't say that as a Brad Pitt fan... It's just going to happen. Write it down.

Best actor should go to either Josh Brolin or Mickey Rourke

Word out is that Mickey Rourke has an extremely good chance of winning Best Actor for The Wrestler.

So, I'd rather have Ledger nominated for Best Supporting

I guess the movies released in the next few months don't count.

Some movie she had starring Eckhart.

Langella has a better shot of winning than Brolin, I would think.

Of course they do, but it's highly unlikely any of the supporting roles will come anywhere close to the impact Ledger's had. And I'm not talking about the hoopla over his death, but the actual performance itself.

as much as i would love to see heath get a best lead actor statue it really was the kind of performance the academy typically sees as supporting and i feel like pushing too hard for a lead nom might backfire.

also if they push for a lead nod the chances of him winning diminish. if he gets nominated for supporting actor i feel its a solid lock.

if i had to choose between a nod for a lead actor and a win for supporting i choose the likely win. i guess we have to asee how the rest of the year goes and if the upcoming performances live up to the pre hype or not. if the lead catagory is looking kinda weak maybe they should push for it. but it seems like rourke is already picking up a lot of steam for the wrestler and i want heath to get the credt he deserves.

not that the oscars have half a clue most of the time but i digress...

Good post. Did Hopkins in Silence (with even less screen time than Heath) get the oscar for lead or supporting ? (granted TDK is more of an ensemble cast than Silence was).

As for the oscars not getting it right most of the time, I certainly agree, dances with wolves over Goddfellas, right...:woot:
