Lethal Weapon V

If Shane Black was writing AND directing, I'd be first in line.

OT: Anyone else feel like KKBB really got screwed over for no good reason? You'd think a movie with such recognizable stars and Joel Silver as producer, there'd have been more of a marketing push for it. Not to mention theater coverage. The movie only played at one theater in my general area for about three weeks. I almost missed the last showing before it came out of theaters.
hell yeah, i cant believe that movie didnt make more or that not many have seen it, the lines in that movie are hilarious

As some know, I am always against making over 3 films for a franchise.
Fortunately, (like Rocky films) I happen to enjoy all of the Lethal Weapon films. I still disagree with there being a fifth. The fourth one was already pushing it.

It is true that Lethal 3 & 4 weren't as good as Lethal 1 & 2 but I enjoyed all four movies. That being said...I've been saying since 1998 that if they ever did make a 5th installment it should return to its dark roots.

It was never dark in the first place, just sober and serious and lacking the Three Stoges comedy of latter instalments.

In response to the original news article, the reason Mel Gibson hasn't starred in a hit movie for a while is because, obviously, he's been spending all his time directing huge epics.

Glover's turned me off.........

Who is this glover is hugging ?

when glover was asked if there would be a lethal 5 only some months ago, he bluntly replied 'no.' Of course Donner and the studio would want more, but it's all really down to Mel.

Whilst I really liked 4...moreso than 3..its undeniable that this series has become comedy>action. I agree with previous posters that a lethal 5 should start getting serious again. And in all fairness, Murtaugh was talking about retirement ALOT of movies ago. If they do a fifth, he's really got to be retired and is just helping Mel out.

Want to get back to the roots??? Have some baddies kill off Lorna and her unborn kid and Leo in the crossfire. Riggs approaches Murtaugh (who doesn't have to follow the rules anymore) and they seek icy cold vengeance reinstating them as the hardasses they once were.

hey, all his previous bints kicked the bucket, why not Lorna? itd be a death that actually had a dramatic impact for a change....plus itd give us back crazy riggs again....

That's waaaaay too much.

Yeah, I'll pass.

In fact, I'll pass on this whole idea. I admit that Lethal Weapon 4 was my favorite for the highest quality action, but it also provided a fine sense of closure to the whole thing.

I would love to see LW5 if they have good story to tell.

I like this idea although it's a bit late to kill the unborn child since she had it in 4.:cwink:

I think that's Hugo Chavez aka the president of Venezuela.

Thanks, so why the hate for him ?

^ Yeah that guy has no common sense. Play the role, step down, or be assassinated. :)

i'd rather see another sequel than a remake of the first. if they're going to do it, they might as well do it right and bring back the hard edge from the first. i don't know if any of the ideas on here will work, but something needs to happen to Riggs to push him over the line again, it seemed like the filmmakers forgot that he's the reason the films are called Lethal Weapon .and i agree that Murtaugh should be retired and just helping Riggs out.

It didn't have that Return of the Jedi type of closure though with Ewoks dancing around and Riggs seeing dead people.

Id make Glover the captain of the department..riggs is still on the streets.. with butters as his partner..butters is murdered in the line of duty and roger and riggs track down the killer,

Yeah, killing Chris Rock off is a good start to any movie.
