Lethal Weapon V

I liked Leathal Weapon, it was a great debut for young Shane Black now known as one of the most famous screenwriters of live action films. But the whole idea of continiuing franchise didn't seem so good. I have no idea why people still hope for 5th movie to come out, if it's a real crap.

Yeah pretty much my thoughts on the matter.

I think the fact that Lethal Weapon 2 was such a great movie gives people hope of another great sequel.

What do you think the plot would be?

A replacement movie? Get the old guys out and the new guys in? Would you be able to take a new duo for this movie franchise?

It'd certainly be hard to deal with Gibson and Glover still running around kicking ass. I mean, they're quite literally "too old for this ****" now, and seeing Gibson pummel the crap out of somebody might be pretty hard to swallow. But I wouldn't really want to see "Lethal Weapon: The Next Generation" either. I think the best answer is simply that LW5 shouldn't happen. Leave it where it is.

Yep, LW5 has only this route to go down.

It doesn't explain anything. One great sequel won't save the whole franchise including three more films.

If they do make it they'll have to bring on a young side kick for Mel and have him in Murtaugh's almost retired position with Murtaugh already in the pasture.

I loved all 4, not because of the stories..for the fact it was Riggs and murtoch(sc)

those two are damn great on screen.

Lethal 3 and 4 weren't THAT bad. I think they're entertaining.

I haven't seen LW 4 after 3rd film, which really disappointed me. Ithink LW is just like every another franchise from 70s-80s got a very bad ending, because studio wanted money.

Number 4 was very good. The end felt like it had more emotion in it. I like to think that it was not about money.

I just heard on the radio, literally this morning.... that this movie is being greenlit. Radio people tend to make stuff up... but I kid you not, the dude said that Gibson and Glover are back... no mention of Joe Pesci though...

Someone find a link!!!

Joe Pesci seems to have fallen into a bottomless pit somewhere.

They already have a young sidekick in place, just bring back Chris Rock.

Let's not

Okay, let's bring back Chris Rock and actually give him some decent material to work with this time. :oldrazz:

I usually like Chris Rock... but not so much in LW4, where he seemed to just be filling space and had nothing funny to do.

Hollywood tracking board TrackingB.com reports that Shane Black, who wrote the first Lethal Weapon movie, has written a spec script for Lethal Weapon 5 without telling anyone. The site adds that he contacted franchise producer Joel Silver and said that he wanted to continue the story.

This time, homicidal Riggs (Mel Gibson) is about to retire, but pulls Murtaugh (Danny Glover) out of retirement to solve one final case, before they both officially head off into the sunset.

TrackingB.com says that Gibson and Glover are down to return, but no deals have been signed.

The first film was released in 1987, the second in 1989, the third in 1992 and the fourth in 1998.
