THIS IS NOT A HATE THREAD.

Alright, I know that this is going to be a long-shot, but the other day I found myself watching "Spider-Man 3" again. Why? I have no idea.

Something I noticed while I watched was that I had blocked a lot of this movie out of my head. All that I could really remember was the dancing, Sand Cloud, and horrible final bad-guy fight.

But you know what? I also noticed that, other than the villains and Dark Peter (lol Dark Peter) stuff, there were some things in this movie that weren't actually all that bad.

In this thread we're all going to watch this movie again and try to find positive things to say about it. Call it an exercise in optimism, but I think we can totally do it.

If we're lucky, we'll be able to show those guys over at the Batboards that we're not all raving lunitics; just most of us. :oldrazz:

RULES: If you absolutely have to say something negative, it must be proceeded by TWO separate POSITIVE things you found in this movie for every ONE NEGATIVE thing. You have to earn your negative comments in order for this thread to remain positive and civil.

I thought the slow death of the relationship between Peter and Mary Jane was well-written. I actually found myself hoping that the movie would go entirely into left-field and have it end with Harry and MJ together and Peter either alone or just starting a relationship with the landlord's daughter. If this had been real life, Peter and MJ (at least this universe's interpretation of them) would have never ended up together. They were a decent couple, but they weren't right for each other.

In fact, if he had never been bit by the spider in the first place he never would have had a chance with her. He would have gotten over his crush, moved on, and then possibly dated Gwen or the aforementioned daughter. The idea of Peter never being bitten would make an interesting one-shot.

I approve of these rules, so behave children

I actually thought Peter/Spider-man was pretty nasty with the black suit on. I think people expected him to turn evil, but the suit really doesn't do that. It enhanced his negative qualities, but never made him into a monster like it did with Eddie.
I also really liked that whole "strutting down the street" bit and how cold and vicious he was in dealing with Brock at the bugle, and telling him to "get religion." And though he didn't get any screentime,I loved the way Venom looked and moved.
The movies is just really fun and for me,it's the most entertaining of the 3.

Actually, you bring up a good point. This universe's depiction of Peter Parker was so much of a dork that the dancing, the coldness, and the selfishness were his negative qualities. He acted exactly how that character would have acted with a symbiote attached.

Positive things I have to say about Spider-Man 3: The entire movie.

I sitll think this movie is awesome. It's my least favorite, but still awesome overall!

A lot of people mention that Venom was the weak link in this film, but honestly I kind of enjoyed the black suit stuff, no matter how bizarre it was at some points.

Honestly I think the weakest part of the movie was all of the Sandman stuff. He could have been replaced with literally any of the other small time villains and the movie would have been the same or improved.

Assume that we were to replace him with Shocker. They could say that he was an accomplice of the original killer and that he escaped. Maybe slightly suggest that it could have been Shocker who killed Ben, stole the car, and picked up the killer. (The killer screws him over and drives away alone, leaving Herman behind) Peter blows it out of proportion, beats the absolute living hell out of Shocker (to the point of severe medical care) and Shocker is taken away by paramedics.

Peter then finds out that it really was the other guy, but at this point Pete doesn't care. He continues being a badass/weirdo. Mary Jane ends up with Harry permanently and Pete basically ends up alone. Venom kidnaps MJ without knowing this and Peter and Harry rush to save her. Herman is broken out of prison by Venom (Brock knows he wants revenge) and they all battle on top of the skyscraper (WITHOUT the damn reporters). Harry is there to save his girlfriend, Peter is there to save his lost love, and they are begrudgingly working together because they both want the same this: MJ's safety.

Harry could live or die, either would be an acceptable outcome, but I simply cannot believe his character turn to rushing right to Parker's side after hating him for two movies.

Your thoughts?

Won't be hard for me to find positive things to say about it; I loved it. BUt if you want something specific; I prefer the movie's depiction of Venom and the look of the black suit over that of the comics.

Any scene in particular? Wait-don't tell me-Peter vs. Harry in the mansion.

I thought Dunst was good in it. Sandman was a pretty cool concept too. That's about it.

The mansion fight was awesome and brutal, but I think I enjoyed the street fight a little better.

Actually, scratch that; the mansion fight was waaay cooler and more fun.

I found Harry and Mary Jane's scenne to be bvery well made, seemed real, i think that most of the romance was well made, Mary Jane was likeable, New Goblin's fights were great

I'll say this for Spider-Man 3, the creation of Sandman scene was absolutely stunning. Still consider it one of the greatest scenes in ANY Comic book movie.

He said good things.

:oldrazz:

But seriously, I hated everything you just said there with the exception of the New Goblin fights. They weren't bad.

My favorite things...Venom's look...Sandman's birth...Subway fight was enjoyable...yeah.

I liked the birth of Sandman, the subway fight with Sandman, the mansion fight with Harry, and James Franco's acting overall.

That's all.

The birth of Sandman was beautiful! It was my favorite thing about him except for the score. I really liked his musical theme.

But the Black-Suit Theme? Absolutely gorgeous! I love it soooooo muuuuuuuch!!!!!!

I really loved the score as well, esp. the black suit theme. Still wish the score would've been released. :csad:

Couldn't agree more. If anything,Venom/symbiote made the movie more interesting and fun. Sandman,at least for me,was a waste. He didn't need to be there and I never cared much about him. This film should've been about the symbiote and it's effect on Peter, and Venom. Those were the best things about the film for me,even though they weren't exactly done justice.

Agreed 100%. This movie would have probably been worse with only Sandman. The Venom stuff made the money that much more interesting.
