Comedy Liam Neeson Firing Up ‘The Naked Gun’ Reboot for Paramount

Another scene I liked in the trailer that captures the spirit of the original spoof films is Liam Neeson driving the car yoinking all the charging stations with him and tearing a big hole in the prison wall. He acts 100% deadpan in that scene which sells it.

I just imagine that scene in another more recent 'typical' comedy film with like Will Ferrell or Ed Helms or someone and I imagine them just yelling and the scene having a different feel because the characters lean into the silliness of "oh my god i destroyed the wall and the prisoners are escaping".

When Leslie Nielsen drives a tank through the wall of the zoo and the animals escape he acts deadpan about it which helps selling it, and this felt similar. He's not clued into the fact that he's a buffoon and he just acts seriously because to him there's nothing silly about what he's doing.

I think Liam Neeson playing his son is throwing me off a bit.

This movie is gonna be a nightmare to translate to other languages.

This isn’t a judgment in the least, but it does make me laugh trying to imagine going back to pre-Taken times and telling someone that one day Liam Neeson would be headlining a Naked Gun movie that co-stars Pamela Anderson and is directed by one of Andy Samberg’s Lonely Island buddies.

Samberg described The Naked Gun as "pure joy," saying that Schaffer "crushed it." Samberg explains that everyone he has seen the film with loves it, and that the film is "all jokes, wall to wall." Samberg also says that "Liam is so funny at it, and the same goes for Pamela Anderson. Here are his full comments:

"We're not in Naked Gun, but Naked Gun is so good. It's just pure joy. I mean, I'm biased, obviously; Akiva is my guy. But everyone I've seen it with all walked out saying the same thing, which is, like, 'I didn't realize how much I missed that feeling of a pure, silly comedy that's all jokes, wall to wall, in a theater.' And I went to a lot of friends and family screenings and test screenings--stuff like that. Me and Akiva are always involved in each other's stuff, and I think he just crushed it. Liam is so funny at it; he's so good. Pam's so good at it. I'm really excited for them. I hope everybody goes and sees it because it's super funny. Album? Hopefully."

Neeson definitely nails Nielsen's style of deadpan delivery. I completely believe he'd be Drebin's son.

Also, between this and The Last Showgirl, I'm very happy to see Pamela Anderson getting a sort-of comeback.

the more I see clips of this the more I am really looking forward to this Liam is freaking hilarious in this he is doing Leslie proud as Frank Jr

I’d be kind of glorious if this ends up opening big enough to take the #1 spot (presumably from Fantastic Four in its second weekend).

The first film had a Weird Al cameo.....so bring back Weird Al for a cameo.
all 3 films had a Weird Al cameo, he played himself in the first two, in part 3 he played a criminal holding Police Squad hostage and Frank accidentally took him out

Ah, you guys are boring. Naked Gun making 60M+ opening is the world I want to be in right now. lol
