Comedy Liam Neeson Firing Up ‘The Naked Gun’ Reboot for Paramount

The “take a chair” bit got me. :funny:

That’s the kind of joke that would be right at home in Airplane.

reminds me of in Airplane when the reporters said they were gonna take some pictures but instead using a camera/cameras they took pics off of the wall as they left the room lol.

Another scene I liked in the trailer that captures the spirit of the original spoof films is Liam Neeson driving the car yoinking all the charging stations with him and tearing a big hole in the prison wall. He acts 100% deadpan in that scene which sells it.

I just imagine that scene in another more recent 'typical' comedy film with like Will Ferrell or Ed Helms or someone and I imagine them just yelling and the scene having a different feel because the characters lean into the silliness of "oh my god i destroyed the wall and the prisoners are escaping".

When Leslie Nielsen drives a tank through the wall of the zoo and the animals escape he acts deadpan about it which helps selling it, and this felt similar. He's not clued into the fact that he's a buffoon and he just acts seriously because to him there's nothing silly about what he's doing.

I think Liam Neeson playing his son is throwing me off a bit.
