Liam Neeson to headline the thriller Retribution

According to Deadline, actor Liam Neeson (Silence, the Taken trilogy) is set to headline Retribution, a new thriller from StudioCanal, The Picture Company and Ombra Films.

A remake of the 2015 Spanish thriller El Desconocido, Retribution centers on a successful Wall Street executive who discovers a bomb planted under his car seat by parties unknown, who force him to obtain a large amount of money in a few short hours or the bomb will explode. Things get even more complicated once the man’s family is in the car with him.


Neeson’s frequent collaborator Jaume Collet-Sera (Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night) will produce (but not direct) with Juan Sola, Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman. Chris Salmanpour and Andrew Baldwin will pen the screenplay for the remake.


Neeson’s next Collet-Sera collaboration, The Commuter, is set to open next January. He’ll also star in the biopic Felt with Diane Lane later this year.
