Licence to Kill. It Need More Respect.

LTK definitely has one of my favorite Bond songs by Gladys Night.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are getting credit for what this movie did two decades ago. The idea of a serious, no nonsense Bond was done two decades ago.

The idea of a serious, no nonsense Bond is exactly the kind of character that Ian Flemming created. Craig isn't ripping off Dalton, and Dalton isn't doing anything unique--they're both just being true to the source material.

That's why it kills me every time I see someone bashed the Craig films, especially Quantum of Solace, for being more like Bourne than Bond. The campy, gadget-heavy, sex pun-filled Bond of the Moore, Brosnan, and even Connery films is not James Bond

But it is the movie James Bond.

There is a difference. And Craig merged the two very well for his interpretation. And in any case, I stand by Dalton tried to play Fleming's Bond, but was mostly wooden and uncharismatic. It is just fans see he played the role as dark and serious and thus assume he is the best. Craig shows how you can make it work for the franchise's character. Dalton did not.

Living Daylights had an awesome theme song. But Goldfinger, Nobody Does It Better, Live and Let Die, Tomorrow Never Dies and You Know My Name were all better Bond songs (not saying anything about their movies necessarily), IMO.

As much as i like The Living Daylights, i didn't really like the song. I love 'A View to a Kill', 'Goldeneye', 'Live and Let Die' and 'LTK's songs.

More or less stupid then in Diamonds are Forever when Bond puts his car on 2 wheels in order to get into the ally, then halfway through the alley going flat and then onto the other 2 wheels in order to come out of the alley the way they accidently filmed it? That takes skill.

Well, I'm not going to pretend that Diamonds Are Forever wasn't silly, because it was. The LTK stunt with the semi truck was just lame though, because it couldn't even get high enough off the ground on one side to even look impressive, much less dodge a rocket.

Silly fun stunts are fine in the sillier Bond movies, but LTK was trying to be badass and serious, and it just failed on all counts.

Exactly. The action was just...atrocious in LTK. The first time I saw the film after hearing countless praise about it being the "grittiest" Bond film to date, I was appalled at just how ridiculous it was.

I think everyone here has iterated my thoughts on LTK, its one of my favourites. You see, I think people forget that Bond has been re-done every few films. Connery's Bond's got too silly after a while, so they created OHMSS, and later, after Moore's atrocious run, with Dalton, TLD AND LTK.

LTK is probably in my top 5 of my favorite Bonds.....yes it's similar in style to movies of the decade, yes Tim Dalton has a bad haircut sometime but dammit it's a good, rough, hard bond !:applaud

And Tim Dalton has some excellent scenes and lines (Make a sound and you're dead:wow:)

Blasphemy!:cmad:

then again, most people don't like Dalton either. Let's be fair here; he's more like the cult favorite amongst the Bonds.

Alway's been my fav bond film and Dalton is the only actor to nail the role not even Connery managed to do that the only reason people rave about him is becouse he was the first, and Craig is good but they made the character a bit of a ***** in the last third of casino royale, but the reason this is the best Bond is becouse it is the only Bond film that would still be a good action movie without the Bond character,ALL the other Bond movies rely waaaay to much on the fact that it is a "Bond" film to get away with some really absurd bollocks, invisible car, laser watch,ok licence to kill has silly moments but not to the point of any of the others.

I know a lot of people hate Dalton, but License to Kill is one of my favorite Bond films, mostly because the concept isn't as far-fetched as other 007 flicks. Some people might find Bond taking on a drug cartel kind of dull or Miami Vice-esque, but at least it wasn't another film about some mad dictator trying to conquer the world or whatever.

I think that Dalton played a good hard-edge Bond like Craig does, it's simply that Craig plays it even better.

Er... WTF!!!!

I love LTK...Dalton is probably my favorite. Most accounts call him the best representation of Fleming's original writings.

As someone who's read most of the books, this was true up until Craig came along. Craig does it a bit better than Dalton did, but Dalton was extremely close to the Bond from the books...who is far superior than most representations of Bond on screen.
