As a big fan of the novel and the 1999 movie starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie, I was obligated to watch this... :cwink:

It is quite watchable but there is one thing that particularly niggles me. Lincoln Rhyme is a quadriplegic and as such, as far as I understand, should not be able to breathe without the aid of a ventilator.
But there is not one to be seen, anywhere.

And that takes me right out of the verisimilitude of the show. Otherwise, I quite like it.

What's your take on it?

I saw the movie - but remember very little about it. However, a quick review of the trailer seems to show that Washington did not play the part with a respirator. (Don’t know about the novel; I never read it.) So maybe there are different degrees of functionality with C4 injuries. Or maybe filmmakers cheat. :ninja:

I have met a lot of people who were unable to use their bodies below the neck who weren't using a respirator. Of course there might be a lot of reasons why someone might be disabled in such a way, so I don't know if Lincoln Rhyme's specific situation is one that would require a device to help him breath.
