Linderman's power

I suppose 'supers' would be a more accurate term for the group of powered-people, heroic or not.

I don't know why people call all the supers heroes, I think when the show first came out, a lot of youngsters hadn't figured out that it wasn't a Superhero show yet... that's why there a bunch of code name, costume, "When will they get together as a team" type threads around...

It's good to see some people are paying attention nowadays.

Well, the title is Heroes, so it's not a huge leap to assume the supers in the show will be heroes. And it is about SuperHeroes, SuperVillains, and just Supers (like Charlie), just not in the traditional comic book sense (Ando and Hiro even joked about costumes). The world is not divided into good and evil camps, even those we think will be heroic may not be. Super Sylar is super-evil, Super Hiro is super-heroic, but Super Nathan is super-ambivilent.

Ah Semantics... did you miss me? ;)

Not a huge leap, nor an uncommon one, but a leap nonetheless, one that I did not make, and I feel free to lampoon the less alert.

^ I think you're a Hero............You're my Hero!!......................o_0

maybe linderman is claires dad

i read that claires dad is someone were familair with, and that seems like the only person that could make sense

Well the Haitian said he knew Claire's father so it's not entirely unreasonable that HRG really is her father.

The Haitian said he didn't know her father.

"Of your father, I know nothing."
"And my mother?"
"Only that she died in an explosion, here in Texas, 14 years ago."

Still, HRG could be pops.

I like the concept of him having the power of probability. Maybe he can not only grasp it at a high level, but affect it as well. This would make it easy to understand why he's in Vegas and tied in to casino's, etc.

It makes sense that HRG would work for Linderman, but I think it would be cooler if he was a part of a separate para-military-like organization altogether. I would prefer to have Linderman be more of a crime syndicate guy (superpowered or not) and HRG to be part of a more stealthy, powerful organization. It would set up for those with powers to join factions as well as some people maintaining independent status.

Linderman's power is the ability to write checks with his MIND!!!

It's an amazing power. Think about it.

I was thinking that Linderman had 1 of 2 powers: Precognition or Probability.

Now for Precognition, imagine Linderman as one of the first heroes to discover his power except instead of being a hero, he's a villian as he seeks to use his powers for his own benefit. He could build an untouchable criminal empire. Now one could strike at him, because he would always see it coming. He uses his considerable criminal influence to establish HRG and his team to track down other Heroes who are a threat to his power. He also begins machinations to draw the heroes into his circle: the Nathan and Niki video, Hiro's Sword, Isaac's Paintings, etc. This idea is the weaker of the 2 because Linderman would have no need to seek a list since he would presumably know who the heroes are. However, one thought that helps it. Imagine if Linderman's power was so strong that he could know what was happening on the planet at any moment in the present or future. A power that strong eminating from him in New York might be what caused Peter, who I strongly believe is not an Empath/Precog but just an Empath, to have visions.

Next, I'm thinking Linderman has a Scarlet Witch type power. He can affect probablity. That's why everything seems to circle around him. He has paintings, tapes, swords. Everything seems to be centered around him and more importantly always in his favor. To him, the heroes are enemies, but also puppets. He toys with them by making them have to come to him and ask for thing A or thing B.

Well that's just my theories.

Linderman is a mystery to me...I just don't know who/what he is, what he will be able to do. (if he does have a power)

I am almost positive ,however, that HRG works for Linderman...it's almost a given. We'll see though.

Besides, from Hercules's "preview" for tonight's episode at http://www.aintitcool.com I really want to say that Linderman is Claire's biological father.

Here's something to think about...it's VERY possible that Linderman = Sylar. Ever thought about that?

CAH

I wonder if Linderman would have a power like longshot or domino?

It's not that crazy to think that since everyone seems to have a connection to Linderman that we will see him at the season finale. It is also not to far off to think he is going to have a power onto himself. What do you think his power is, or is he simply a Kingpin type character?

He's a kingpin character, the ones who have nothing but wants something.

What if hes Jelous that he can pretty much get anything he wants but cant get these powers so he is trying to figure out how he can get them for himself.
If he did have powers i thought maybe something like godlike powers i dont know.

I don't think HRG or Linderman have powers. They are both ruthless and determined in their own way, but lacking super powers or abilities in the sense that the rest of the cast seems to have.

I'd love to see HRG or Linderman have powers, but I just have a gut feeling neither one does, or at least HRG doesn't.

this may be a long shot, but what if he has extra long life. he seems to collect a lot of historical stuff. he did mention that a lot of people have tried to kill him before.

I personally hope he doesn't have powers. I hope, for the most part, none of the characters who are unpowered now turn out to have powers later on. I dont want to find out Ando or Mohinder or HRG or someone like that has powers, it's too predictable.

I wouldn't mind Linderman having some sort of power, but just him. None of the others should(HRG,Mohinder,Ando,etc...).

As to what his power may be(if indeed he has one), there are numerous possible powers he could have. I tend to think that he'd have one that was new and/or different from what we've seen before with the other supers. That would rule out mind control and precognition since we've already seen those in Eden and Issac. If I had to guess what his power would be I'd lean towards 2 possibilities that I consider very high.

1.Super humanly high IQ. This would allow him to see more in Issac's paintings than we or the other supers see. It would also explain why he's always hot to buy new paintings since it would give him a greater context and understanding of what is seen in them. Remember Issac has-to date- never been wrong in his visions, but it is also clear that his paintings do not give the whole context of what they show. Someone with a super IQ would be able to see juxtapositions and nuances in these paintings that virtually everyone else would miss. And that is how he would be able to fairly accurately predict the future.

2.Psychometry. He is able to tell the past, present, and future history of any object he touches. For obvious reasons this would keep him one step ahead of just about everybody so long as he continues to sample things around him. Maybe that's why he collects so much stuff from all over the world.

I can't be arsed to go through this again so...

LINDERMAN HAS NO POWERS

The whole point of that scene was the juxtaposition of a "powered" individual and a man of REAL power.

He was basically saying, you may be stronger, faster, etc...

But I can get to you in ways you can't even imagine. He doesn't get angry or violent because he doesn't need to. He has surpassed fear altogether. Now THAT'S power

Why does EVERYONE have to have a power. Think comic books, the best villains have little or no inherent power. Linderman is an ordinary guy who has AMASSED power in the traditional sense, which makes him far more interesting. Otherwise it just ends in yet another fight scene and this show would start to seriously suck. HE HAS NO POWERS

No one said he had to have a power, but there's certainly nothing wrong with him having one. And I'm not so sure the best villians are without powers. Lex Luthor for example, is worthless to me as a villian. And not all powers are ones that would be really useful in a battle but rather useful for making sure that you don't get into one. Also, NO ONE CAN SAY FOR SURE IF HE HAS POWERS OR NOT!

Maybe we won't know what his power is, but then at the second season, Hiro is wandering centuries ago in feudal japan, (learning from the original owner of the sword or something - why not?), where he accidentaly crosses paths with a slightly younger traveler who looks an awful lot like Linderman. (who's been around for centuries)
