Linkin Park is Back : Minutes to Midnight

Not till the 15th. How in the hell is everyone listening to it already?

It leaked on May 4th.

And if you're going to listen to the leak, don't listen to it on YouTube. Just get it from a normal download site.

*Looks on my special site to download the leaked version*

...I kinda want to buy this one, though.
For sentimental value, since I did buy Meteora.

...yeah, I think I will download this thing.
I'm not blown away by what I am hearing...

Mike recently responded to an assertion by an interviewer that many fans believed Rick Rubin was the man entirely responsible for their change in sound.

"I don't agree with that. I go on the message board. You go ask anybody on the Linkin Park message boards, they know I'm on there and they know the band is watching. The band goes on occasionally we've always been very active with the fans and we stay that way. We know what people are saying out there, and I have to say: Number One - we call them the vocal minority. There are a smaller number of people who are very vocal, and then there's a lot of people who sit there and they do their own thing."

Mike elaborated on how this album was going to be a "challenge" for some people to get used to:

"...As we were writing the record we knew going into it that this would be a challenge for people. This is not the same kind of record. If you're expecting Hybrid Theory Part 3, I'm sorry. You're going to have to buy another copy of Hybrid Theory or some other band that's trying to do that style because we're not going to do it for you."

I didnt like ''What Ive done'' until I saw the music video and understood what it was about.

Wow. People are in here talking about the quality of a Linkin Park album, and it's not sarcasm.

its like linkin park has grown up and are tackling some serious stuff in their songs

i have a feeling im going to be listening to Shadow of the Day the most out of any songs... fits my type of music

Its like they have branched their music out
great stuff

Listening now. From what it sounds like, I won't be able to listen to LP in the gym anymore.

that means you hated it?

i actually dig the non yelling as much

I don't hate it, I guess I didn't expect it to be THIS mellow. It's easily my least fav of their CDs though.

Meteora FTW!

meteora was a little to polished for me , but I liked it anyhow

Linkin Park
Minutes to Midnight
(Warner Bros.)
***

No sooner does nu-metal find its ragged soul and experimental punch in Linkin Park (Meteora was riveting; its Collision Course collaboration with Jay Z better still) than the L.A. band dispenses with its signature rap-rawk.

Dag - and me with a closet full of recently purchased baggy shorts.

With just enough humpty-hump to hold hip-hop heads in thrall, Park's Mike Shinoda (emboldened by his atmospheric Fort Minor project) and the ubiquitous Rick Rubin turn Linkin into moody punks with a visceral kick, some oddly classic-rock hooks, and soft, contagious melodies dolled up with esoteric noisemakers.

That Linkin's careening sound is stripped to the waist gives Shinoda's wordy rapping flow on "Bleed It Out" more oomph and his vocals ("In Between") room to ruminate. But never forget the unforeseen possibilities of singer Chester Bennington. While "Leave Out All the Rest" leans toward balladeering electronica and "The Little Things Give You Away" swoons through acoustic guitars, the scuffed yet silken Bennington gets more chances to rock out with his schlock out ("Given Up") than ever. And when Pennington and Shinoda go at the war song of "Hands Held High" with a taut rap and a croon, Linkin Park sound brutal and beautiful.

Since when does LP swear in there songs? I heard a couple songs and they curse in them.

I remember in a interview way back in 2000 they said they didn't need to use curse words in there songs to sell cds.

I guess things have changed.

First of all thanks to Kaleb, Poeman and Warhammer for the album. There will be some fine b!thces in you stables tonight. ;)

The albums is awesome. Can't say anything bad about it. Loved it and hands held high, so far to me, is the song of the year. I really loved what LP did, I can respect that they abandoned there nu-metals way. NU-metals was a product of the late 90's early '00 and it has died off. ALso, with less screaming they have more of an edge. The screaming just made them seem like they were whinning all the time.
