Remember when Linkin Park was good?

Linkin Park was awesome on Hybrid Theory and Meteora, no doubt about it. I didn't like Minutes to Midnight with the exception of "Leave Out All the Rest," "Shadow of the Day," and "What I've Done" being fairly listenable, but certainly not the Linkin Park from before. Their new songs "Not Alone," "Blackbirds," and "The Catalyst" all fall under the same treatment. They changed their sound so much, but now it's not even good music at all.

Still, that hasn't stopped me from enjoying some material here and there. The song "New Divide" recorded for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is pretty good. They also released two experimental albums in the past couple years titled Songs From the Underground and Underground v9.0: Demos full of unreleased songs, live recordings, instrumentals, and collaborations which are great, maybe even better than their early stuff. Plus, the lead singer is also in a new project called Dead By Sunrise, and I really like their debut album. Let's just say that if it was a Linkin Park release, I would still have a lot of faith in the band. :o I recommend checking out all of the above if you were a fan of old school Linkin Park.

The last song Linkin Park came out with was Faint.

Well shucks, thinking back on it, Faint really is their one good song.

"New Divide" reminds me a lot of "What I've Done." I guess they probably did that on purpose since What I've Done was in TF and they wanted a similar song for TF2.

i liked New Divide but I cant help but laughing everytime I hear the little techno breakdown inthe middle of it because it sounds like they copy and pasted it from a NIN song off of Year Zero.

"We realized it doesn't matter what thesongs sound like, if it comes from us, it's Linkin Park." - Chester Bennington in a rollingstone article I just read. Explains some things lol.

I get what he's saying, and the best artists (I find) are able to cover new ground once in a while. I just personally don't care for their current cycle of music.

NIN... totally... or maybe Daft Punk :woot:

Eh, I liked a few songs off Minutes To Midnight, and I still like Linkin Park as a matter of fact.

Referring to yourself in the 3rd person is bad enough without using a nickname.

I used to be a huge fan of Linkin Park back in middle school. Then came Minutes to Midnight, which pretty much flipped a switch and I've hated their music since. LP's not as bad as Limp Bizkit, but they're down there, imo...

I thought Reanimation was pretty good, I still listen to this and Hybrid Theory today.

I was actually up around 2AM and they showed Linkin Park's new video for "The Catalyst", I actually didn't think it was as bad as the first time I listened to it. At least their DJ player usually makes some neat-looking music videos.

New song out called Wretches & Kings I like it a lot more than "The Catalyst"

Most techno song I've heard them put out.

Reanimation had lots of good guest appearances, and most of the songs had new vocals added in. A really good effort if you asked me...

Yeah, it wasn't a standard remix album. Pretty much everything was completely overhauled, hardly rehash. Meteora was rehash.

Linkin Park was awesome on Hybrid Theory and Meteora, no doubt about it.

The songwriting on Meteora is terrible. It's a cliched, overproduced HT knockoff.

Their new songs "Not Alone," "Blackbirds," and "The Catalyst" all fall under the same treatment.

 The Catalyst doesn't sound and isn't structured anything like BB or NA.

Those aren't full lenght albums, nor are they experimental.

Songs From the Underground is a collection of songs, demos & live tracks that were previously released on the annual fanclub (LPUnderground) CDs.

U9 is an actual fanclub release of demos from previous albums.

DBS sounds nothing like any era of LP. & half of it is pretty generic.

Nothing will touch Hybrid Theory.

Many things surpass HT. A Thousand Suns being just one of those things.:cwink:

I liked their earlier stuff better. I didn't hate Minutes to Midnight, but it did take more than 1 listen to start liking it

I don't know why people only give things one chance. The best albums usually require multiple listens to appreciate. But that's the instant gratification society we live in now. :whatever:
And The Catalyst is a very well written song, give it a few more listens before condemning it.

Another new song out called "Blackout"

I can't really say what I think about it yet, will take a few more listens, like most of the new songs they have put out.
