Linux help

alright, i'm sure there's a thread on this, there has to be, but we all know the search function on this site works about as well as an illegal immigrant at mcdonalds...

so, i recently (yesterday) got linux, because i was having major problems with windows... and i think i'm liking linux ubuntu so far... but i can't do a thing with it.

i can't see anything involving adobe flash, i've un-installed, re-installed etc... and i can't play wmv's at all...

i'm not stupid when it comes to computers, but i just can't figure this thing out... any help would be greatly appreciated.
