2 of the most emotional issues of Spider-Man I have ever read. They are MUST READ status.

The Harry Osborn stuff used to bring a lot out of me back in the day.

"The Child Within" and Spectacular 200. That era.

MAN Dematties was so good. Harry was a frightening psychopath. That anniversary issue where he, Liz, Spidey, Molten Man and little Normie sit down at a dinner table was frightening. Spectacular 200 was creepy and tragic. Oh and don't get me started on Vermin. That character always makes me feel so much sympathy and terror in equal parts it's crazy.

Aloha,
I would agree 100%. Also for me Amazing #18. My first Spidey comic and to this day my favorite. Also #31-33.

Spidey rules

Outside of the usual suspects that don't need listing, Spider-Man: Blue is beautiful and hits my feels really hard.

Well ANE, I would have to highly agree with you on that one. Spider-Man: Blue is probably one of the greatest Spider-Man stories ever told. I actually shed a tear at the end of reading it.

Hey, stranger things have happened. :cwink:

I did too, I actually read it every Valentine's Day lol. Hulk: Grey & Iron Man: Yellow was good too, but Spider-Man: Blue was absolutely a must read, if anyone hasn't read it I implore you to.

Do you mean Daredevil: Yellow? I started reading it at B&N and loved it but never got a chance to finish it unfortunately. Valentines day is a good day to read these graphic novels lmao :)

Kraven's Last Hunt

Amazing Spider-Man 216 & 217
Peter gets beaten up by the Frightful Four and crashes at Deb Whitman's apartment. He sleeps for 14 hours and in the meantime, she cooked a huge feast for him. He didnt even look at it when he woke up and immediately went to check on the new hottie neighbor at his apartment. When he eventually returned to Deb's apartment, he was surprised to see her with a new man. Pete was really kind of an ass in that arc, it actually made me angry at him. He knew Deb liked him and disregarded her. After things didnt work out with the neighbor he settled for Deb and was upset that she had moved on.

Amazing Spider-Man 400
"Aunt May's" death.

Peter Parker: Spider-Man 75
Ben Reilly dies, baby May is kidnapped and Norman Osborn returns.

Amazing Spider-Man 472
Spidey deals with a school shooting as he applies for a job at Midtown high.

Amazing Spider-Man 479
May tells Peter she knows he is Spider-Man.

Amazing Spider-Man 505
Spidey faces a bike thief...who turns out to be a kid with a gun.

Yes and No. I was confusing it with DD: Yellow, but was thinking Stark had one, but it's called Iron Man: The Iron Age, which is similar in structure to the S-M Blue, Hulk Grey, & DD Yellow arcs.

The Death of Spider-Man: Fallout in the Ultimate line, issue 1 has Peter's funeral. That will choke you up.

Also Jenkins' story about the kid with cerebral palsy in the Spectacular series. Issue 14, I believe.

And I might get flak for this, but One More Day has it's moments.

Just because OMD was terrible overall doesn't mean it didn't have its moments lol.

I'll admit that I sort of teared up a bit at the end of OMD.

Amazing Spider-Man #400 Death of Aunt May (unfortunately retconned)
Death of Ben Reilly and Baby May
Spec Spider-Man #200 Death of Harry (gee, another classic story undone… *sigh*)
Spider-Man: Redemption
Kraven's Last Hunt (… again…)
Kid who Collected Spider-Man (how long until he comes back?)
Death of Gwen Stacy (knock on wood)
ASM Annual #5 where he learned the truth about his parents
Death of Jean DeWolff
The Child Within
Conclusion of Pursuit when Chameleon breaks down and Peter sees Harry orchastrated the fake parents thing
That JMS issue where Peter ran into MJ at the airport and Dr Doom was there

If I thought harder, I'd probably switch some of these around or replace some. But that's off the top of my head.

DeMatteis' writing of Harry's slide into madness is probably the most emotionally mature and disturbing arc that the Spidey mythos have ever seen. Kraven's Last Hunt was a classic, but I think the Harry saga tops it. You're right. That dining room scene was just brilliant writing.

Having finally read Blue, that has to be the clincher for me. Really hard hitting stuff :(

I definitely need to get the book but every time I think it's in my local Barnes and Nobles, it's never there:csad:

I got to say JMS Happy Birthday life was so sad yet hopeful at the same time, Shed, and Flowers for Rhino(I was really rooting for the guy), I haven't gotten a chance to read Rhino Gauntlet arc.

can we list elseworld Spider-Man arcs too or just 616 Spider-Man stories for this?

Whatever you want.

What I would love to see in a Spider-Man comic are a few "Stand-Up and Cheer" issues.

The Child Within
Kraven's Last Hunt
Soul of the Hunter
Osborn Legacy
The Night Gwen Stacy Died
The Gift
Death of Jean DeWolff
The Kid Who Collected Spider-Man
The Mark of Kaine

Oh man, shed. Shed! That is one of the best Spidey stories in the last 10 years. Loved everything about it, Bachalo knocked it out of the park.

Rhino's Gauntlet issues were really good, you'll enjoy em.

I liked Shed, too. I thought I was alone in that.

Too bad no one died in Goblin Nation, outside Lamaze. Even Otto was initially "meh" about his capture.
