"Live Long and Prosper" - The Spock Thread

I hope we get the chance to see some scenes where Spock gets to show off his telepathic skills.

Spock is my fav! Quinto did a excellent job.

Does anyone know if Spock Prime will be back in any capacity?

No, he's done. Retired. I think that's fine though, since he served his purpose already. It would be annoying if they kept bringing back original actors for each film.

I hope we see more humour from Spock this time. I don't mean outright comedy, but Nimoy's Spock did have some acerbic and witty barbs when verbally jousting with McCoy in the original series. So far I haven't seen any of that with Quinto.

I want to see some arguments between Spock and McCoy like we got in TOS too. But it has to be done in a way that shows there is respect for one anothers abilities also. Again, as did TOS.

Yeah, McCoy in TOS would only grudgingly admit that Spock was right or that he was a fine officer, and never within earshot. However, he did forget that Spock had more sensitive hearing so sometimes picked up on what he said and would say things like "why, thank you doctor."

I also want Spock to be insulted when Kirk compliments him on being human, or thinks it's a compliment when Kirk or McCoy say he's not human as in the original series.

I'll be curious to see how the destruction of Vulcan effects Spock over time.

More to the point, I wonder how his personal witness to the premature death of his mother will affect him. Will it drive him to embrace his human side more than Spock Prime did at the same age, or will it drive him further away into the cold but steady embrace of logic?

He seemed alot more logical and cold in the first issue of Countdown to Darkness. Or maybe i'm overseeing it and he was the same as Trek 2009.

I hope we continue to see the growing brother friendship of Kirk & Spock expanded from the first film. I though Pine & Quinto did a magnificent job in capture the overall essence of these two characters. I also love that they didn't copy cat Shatner & Nimoy's version instead they made it their own.

Why wouldn't Spock be upset that Kirk got promoted to Captain over him?

I am so hyped for Star Trek Into Darkness. I saw all three trailers. The movie looks cool because of the action footage shown in the trailers

Judging by the trailers and other promos I've seen, it looks like Spock has a much smaller role in the sequel than in the first film, where he was a co-lead with Kirk. This one seems to mostly concentrate on Kirk and his story. Don't know how I feel about it because I found Spock a much more interesting character but oh well.

Anthony Quinto looked amazingly like Leonard Nimoy in this film one shot.

I find this highly illogical.

I remember in the original star trek, may favorite was picking out spock's logical failings. For example "I should treat enemies as obeying pure logic". But in the latest star trek its difficult!
