"Live Long and Prosper" - The Spock Thread

I hope we see more humour from Spock this time. I don't mean outright comedy, but Nimoy's Spock did have some acerbic and witty barbs when verbally jousting with McCoy in the original series. So far I haven't seen any of that with Quinto.
Thats because theres only one Leonard Nimoy.

Please....no emotional Spock! Break off that forced Uhura fling!

ROFL! Spock Prime shows that he's not to be underestimated. I love it looks like Spock learned alot from Shanter's Kirk on how to cheat but still come out on top :woot:

Nimoy has one of the most pointless cameos I've ever seen, and I'm actually quite surprised he agreed to do it. He turned down other Treks because the role wasn't necessary or important.
We're still getting the overly emotional Spock. This is not the Spock we know, he is gone forever. And the Uhura crap is still going on. If they're not careful she'll just end up being Spocks bit of crumpet for all of these movies. I'm already bored with her character, the tribble gets a more important role in the movie.

That might be my favorite commercial of all time. I burst out laughing when Nimoy reenacted his famous death scene at the car window.

I definitely did enjoy [blackout]Spock being different. We got to see a Spock who gave an explanation to his behavior. We got to actually see a tear roll down his eye. We got to see a Spock who embraced his anger and of course, being involved in a great fight scene.[/blackout] As far as [blackout]Spock Prime's cameo is concerned, it was cool. However, it was pointless. It bordered on being too much fan service.[/blackout] I can't believe I just complained about too much fan service.

I think if [BLACKOUT]the cameo hadn't been there, fans would be asking why they never checked in with the older Spock about who Khan was.[/BLACKOUT]

Hmmmm, that's true. I can see that.

I can't express how much Quinto has done in honoring this character and bring a new spin to such an iconic character. Man this movie Spock elevated his game to a whole new level. I love that he shows more emotions and also is a warrior.

Yes, man you do not want to make Spock angry....

He'll make you a new one!

Spock is definitely more violent in the Abramsverse than he ever was in the Primeverse. I guess losing his mother the way he did really did push him into a dark place, maybe permanently.

Judging by the trailers and other promos I've seen, it looks like Spock has a much smaller role in the sequel than in the first film, where he was a co-lead with Kirk. This one seems to mostly concentrate on Kirk and his story. Don't know how I feel about it because I found Spock a much more interesting character but oh well.

Just saw the movie, and IMHO
and it seemed to me that Spock actually had a more bigger role than Kirk, or at least screen time. And I did love the beat down at the end!

Lady Sybil, see this movie and you will not be disappointed.

Yup. Losing your mother and your planet all at the same time would take a toll. Maybe not for a full blooded Vulcan, but with his human side...

Seeing Spock yell "Khan!!!" and then going after him actually gave me chills. It's not one of my favorite moments in Trek history.

How come?

I think Quinto's Spock is infinitely more interesting than Nimoy Spock, I have never been a Trekkie, but have watched the old movies, and most things in them just bored me, Spock being one of them.

Seeing Spock get pissed off in the last 2 movies has just been superb, especially seeing him going after Khan in STID, its great seeing him let loose IMO.

The new Spock just flat out rocks. I love how Kirk and Spock learn from each other.

The role reversals that Spock and Kirk have considering where they come from in the first movie make it more enjoyable.

Spock taking a cue from Kirk cheats in his "kobayashi maru" by calling prime Spock for help against Khan.

Kirk taking a cue from Spock sacrifices himself for his family

Rewatching ST09 i cant help but smile when Spock is lecturing Kirk about what it means to be a captain knowing he will full his destiny as one and yes a captain can cheat death lol
