Horror Longlegs

This wasn't Silence of the Lambs, though. The similarities between the two don't really go beyond sharing a similar premise in the beginning. Longlegs is a different vibe, different tone, and subverts those expectations of being a typical serial killer mystery.

It sure was hyped up like it was tho. Not to mention several reviewers calling it that, but I was merely being funny with this obvious hyperbole. Great marketing team.

I just want to know where Nic Cage was so terrifying and creepy in this movie?

I am from old Bedford Stuyvesant, you ride a Brooklyn bound A train at night and you’ll see a few real Longlegs.

Maybe I am jaded. :o

You’re definitely right.

Nicholas Cage felt very very out of place here.

Everyone was acting as though they were in a dark crime thriller whereas Nicholas Cage was just acting like he was in it for a laugh.

The makeup job especially didn’t help matters.

I’ve lived in NYC. There are really creepy people out there like what they seemed to be going for. It just wasn’t Cage being Cage.

After he screamed in the car, I just couldn’t stop laughing under my breath at how over the top he went.

The movie would be near perfection without him. I thought this was be the more serious Cage, not The Wickerman Cage.

I don’t get it. Was it meant to be a horror comedy? If so, why was only Cage’s acting mostly funny?

Now imagine yous is watching Silence of The Lambs and the last half or so

It is revealed it was all supernatural type.

Lawd. Mans ruined his own food for me. Eh, still solid. 6/10

I don’t get this complaint.

It was supernatural since the beginning - with the detective being clairvoyant. It didn’t really come out of the blue.

So after leaving letters for what reason? Cops thought it was within. There was no need to leave letters. How does this help their satanic master plan? Lol

Asking those types of questions in Horror kills the vibe so fast. But in seriousness, how else would the cops know that he was even involved, that the murders were even connected? He couldn't take credit for the kills without the letters.

Correctomundo! Bald man. There was no need to do so, if you want your plan to go accordingly, but then we wouldn’t have a movie so…eh. I know I sound like a hater, but I’m simply vastly disappointed. Everything was there for this to be a modern masterpiece, but it fell really short. Hell, Maika Monroe flick which lives up to the hype and atmosphere is ‘Watcher’. More folks should’ve seen that one. Eh.

The hype and the movie are two different things.

Oz Perkins himself has said he was referencing Silence of the Lambs with the premise, but more as a way to bring in the audience and sort of "trick" them into seeing a movie that would take a different direction. Seems like it worked...

Yes, great marketing team. And if the trailers actually reflected what I got, this would’ve been a rental on the cheap down the road.

Crushing it. Love to see it.

If this would have been released on streaming without the awesome marketing campaign, it would have come and gone and disappeared from the culture almost immediately. Theatrical >>>

Girl, horror movies veered from those tropes WAY before you stepped in the game.

Thank Heather Langenkamp, Neve Campbell and Jodie Foster who paved for you.
To her defense, she mentioned around the time she was starting out. I don't think she meant it had always been like that but more so around early 2010's than referring to state of horror decades before.
