Superman Returns LOOK UP IN THE SKY: THE AMAZING STORY OF SUPERMAN doc trailer

hmm, id agree that some of the lighting reflects a german expressionist style although the narrative is far from it, also nothing really is distorted and out of shape
Yeah, it doesn´t have distorted sets and things like that. The narrative is pretty simple, the way golden age superhero comics were.

I just finished seeing the doumentary on A&E and I thought it was really good. The clips shown from superman returns makes me want to see the movie even more. Are there any special features on the dvd?

I loved it. It seemed to cover everything about Superman- the good and the bad.
* The Max Fleischer cartoons have great animation
* George Reeves made a great Clark Kent/Superman. It's so sad his life ended in such a tragic way.
* I didn't know it was the radio show that gave us The Daily Planet, Perry White, "look up in the sky..."
* Scratching my head at dogs portraying Superman and supporting players- WTF?
* Loved the Jerry Seinfeld American Express commericals. I had forgotten about them.
* Thank heavens Jon Peters Superman never got off the ground

I agree, Singer got all the Superman mythos.

- Reeves was a little too old for the part - just as some say Routh is too young, hehe -, but he was very sympathetic.
- Wasn´t it the Jerry SEINFELD commercials?

You know what, is it me or another element Singer took from the Max Fleischer cartoons was his choice for Lois? I think Bosworth looks more like the Lois from that cartoon than any other...

One thing that gave me a lot of satisfaction about the Doc. was Jon Peters admitting that he was dead wrong on his vision of Superman. I laughed histerically.

George Reeves played Clark as a paternal father figure. With his age and look I couldn't see him as the bumbling Clark.
Kirk Alyn was close to 40 when he played Superman

I don't know where I got Jerry Lewis.

reeves seemed younger than 40 to me. i guess it was b/c of the black and white.

To me it looked like he had a tad of grey in his hair. He looked to be
in his 40's to me.

Can someone please tell me again whether they think this DVD is worth buying or not... i didn't get to see it and i don't have A&E so can you tell me is it worth buying for those of you who have seen it?

If you're a superman fan, get it!!!! Even if you're not a fan get it anyway. Great documentary!!!!! Hopefully more of its kind are released for other comics.

QUESTION (?)

Do we see more from the making of SUPERMAN RETURNS than what is seen in the segment released on the net?? Just wondering (already bought it over the net, should arrive in a day or two)

is there a quicktime version of the trailer?

Not that I remember.

Oh... I just remember hearing something about having some outtakes within the documentary, of Marlon Brando as Jor-El. Then he messes up his lines and go "****!"... I can only emagine that that would be fun to see... seeing him playing wice and God-Like, and then hear him mess up, replying "****, I did it again!"...
I believe that it was Singer who said that it was in there, but oh well.
