All the reviews I have read have been great. Can't wait to check this one out

Why? I mean they really didn't market this movie well, plus hotel transylvania looks funny.

It's at 47% on RT and features Adam Sandler as Dracula (albeit a CGI Dracula).

Well, it changed a lot of hands before it got to Genndy. Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Symbionic Titan....the man did what he could.

I'm not familiar with Genndy other than seeing an episode of Dexter maybe 10 years ago. But I still have zero interest in Hotel Transylvania.

I do agree that the marketing for Looper has been sub-par, at least lately. It does seem like few people outside of the internet fanboy community know about it, for whatever reason.

^Youtube is your friend in this instance, man. Check some of his **** out. But yeah I do want Looper to do well so Rian can get a superhero directing gig.

Review is in the signature.

All my friends weren't happy with the Emily Blunt/Cid subplot. They thought it made the movie's plot "stupid."

Whatever, it was great!

Also he did the Star Wars cartoon shorts.

Saw this yesterday.

I think I expected too much of maybe a different story because it felt a bit underwhelming. Maybe I was trying to fit the puzzle pieces together too quickly or something.

The story is cool, it's an original film no doubt.

It seemed to me that it wasn't JGL acting in the film. All the make up, the voice altering, it felt like someone else. A bit distracting but not bad. Bruce Willis does his job, but nothing earth shattering. The story gets really interesting once Emily Blunt and her kid are introduced.

The film has some great moments but just didn't deliver as much as I thought it would. Perhaps I over hyped it in my head.

JGL felt like someone else? Wasn't that the point?

And hasn't anyone learned to gauge expectations especially in this hyperbolic digital age?

Yeah, that's what I'm like. If he didn't have the makeup and **** we'd just say it was JGL doing a Willis impression. The exact same thing we ***** about with other actors basically not changing up their appearance when playing a character.

Just got back and it was ****ING GREAT! Best film with Willis since I dont know when. Great job with the timetravel bit and all in all... :)

One thing I am looking forward to is
Piper Perabo going full naked.

Bring it.

That bit was such a lovely surprise. Didn't know that was going to happen. Hell, I thought this was PG13 going in. I've been purposely avoiding everything about this film, and it was so worth it. Droooool.

Rian Johnson is a beautiful scoundrel. A sold time travel film that both entertains and makes you think, all the while offering a hefty dose of selfless heroism from multiple characters. It's crazy what Joe goes through in this story.

JGL continues to impress. Everything with the kid took me by surprise. Awesome time.

I didn't like the gatmen and their appearance. Slightly odd choice there. Everything else? Hell yes.

Full review later but I loved the hell out of it.

9.5/10

I enjoyed the film. I would give it an 8/10.
I was surprise by the child actor that played Cid. He has good comedic timing. But Cid needs to be seen by Professor Xavier pronto.

Saw it, loved it. JGL, Willis, Blunt and the kid all gave standout performances. As there are with all time travel movies, there are things that might not seem to add up, but if you look at it as a story where several "loops" might have already occurred and prompted different results, then I think it works.

One thing I have to give this movie is that it was ballsy. Rian Johnson really allowed this movie to have an edge to it.
Neither young or old Joe are particularly heroic; they are both prone to selfish acts and violent crime. And in contrast to how I thought the film was going to go, Joe in some ways actually becomes more selfish and more of a bastard as he gets older. Despite his lecture to young Joe in the Diner... the guy was willing to murder CHILDREN just to save his future wife and (more importantly) his relationship with her. That's some pretty dark sh**. And well, yeah, maybe the Rainmaker turned out to be a real SOB, but it's hard to look at him as this uber-evil character when he's really just killing off a bunch of heartless murderers. So there isn't all that much justification for plugging him before he becomes a threat.

I absolutely loved this movie.

Another sci-fi classic in the realm of Inception. I think this film will improve with further viewings, too. It's open ended enough that a few interpretations are possible.

I thought this movie was brilliant. Definitely gotta see it again.

Saw this last night on the opening evening. Cinema was not very full. But then there has not been much in the way of marketing in the UK.

Really wanted to like this film. But in all honesty, I came away feeling quite unimpressed.

I don't think enough time was spent developing the main character. Especially in his older years. So therefore I had virtually no empathy with "old Joe" and I am sure the audience was supposed to. Especially with what he was doing after coming back.

What happened at the end in the field, I saw coming from a mile off, which was somewhat disappointing. Whether that means I am clever or the filmmakers were obvious, I don't know.

Perhaps this film will improve to me with repeated viewings, but that will have to wait until the Blu-Ray comes out.

As I said, I really wanted to like this film. From what I previously read about it, I was hoping for something deep and meaningful like Moon. But it fell short of that.

It's heart was in the right place, but the execution was flawed.

Effort: 8.5 / 10
Execution: 6 /10

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was really channelling a younger Bruce Willis though. I was impressed with that. Makeup used on JGL was subtle and did make him resemble Bruce in his younger days to a degree.

Hm... after seeing this, I'm starting to rethink my Halloween costume. First I was going to go as crazy-Bruce Wayne with the goatee/dressing gown/cane. But now, when I already have the black leather jacket, shirt and tie and especially a fog watch... It would be alot easier to go as Young Joe. For Crazy-Wayne I'll ned to get a hold of a cane somewhere, but for Young Joe I only need to make a blunderbuss out of some empty toilet rolls...
