Lovecraft Country - Jordan Peele and Bad Robot Team Up on HBO

Wow. WOW.

I feel like I just watched a full season of television and we're only two episodes in. Like, this was a season finale, and yet here we are back again next week with what seems like a completely new plot. And obviously, who knows what will happen, but I do kind of wish we'd gotten at least one more episode to space out the events here, because some of it did feel a little rushed and also, obviously,
to get more from Uncle George. That scene wreaked me. Jonathan Majors is just CRUELLY good at making me feel his pain.
But things just keep getting more insane in the best possible way. I love how "full-Lovecraft" this plot was and I can't wait to see what hits next.

And I said last week that I'd be down for Majors as Cyclops. This week made me realize I'd take Vance as Xavier and Williams as Magneto, too.

Liked it a lot more than episode 1 in terms of story.

Yeah I don’t buy

For one second that Uncle George is dead. It’ll be undone somehow, hopefully.

But wow at the imagery in this second episode. A bunch of high ranking white people, being entertained by the pain of black people fighting illusions in a big haunted house. And then Uncle George schooling said white people, thus getting a seat at the table and Tic telling them where to go. I loved it.

LOL @ Jurnee’s character asking for salt and pepper at the breakfast scene.

Can’t say that I share the same sentiments as everyone else here when it comes to praising the latest episode. Not only did things feel completely rushed, the overall series of events just seemed like a bunch scenes that should have been left on the cutting room floor. It could be the choppy editing that makes specific scenes just conveniently come together without much needed context to make every characters’ present and subsequent actions seem organic or it could be the sheer fact that the characters don’t seem that interesting. But this feels just like most shows produced by JJ and unfortunately, even Peele recently with his Twilight Zone reboot.

Yup, I didn't expect this at all to happen. (So soon?) I thought the rest of the season would be about them being in the mansion, slowly discovering secrets there, exploring the creepy town, meeting weird characters, eventually finding the dad, etc... most shows would have that formula.

I guess that all kind of happened already, so now I have no idea where they're going with this, which is great :D

WTF Lovecraft country, I did not see to see that ghost. You will know the one.

That was a great episode. I liked the kind of stand alone nature of it, and kind of wish that the others would follow the same format. And definitely not done with the racism. Kind of wish some things were left unexplained for a bit longer. Still, a very strong episode, I almost think it is my favorite so far.

But seriously, wtf.

Another great, bat**** crazy episode, but I definitely thought this one was the best since the premiere. It just flowed a lot better than the last episode and I love how they incorporate the visual effects with some really gnarly, gory make-up effects. All those ghosts looked horrifying IMO and were pure nightmare fuel. The more stand alone episodes definitely feel like the strongest ones so far and if more of this show is like that than I'm all for it.

I really thought they'd make a whole season out of the first 2 chapters, but they seem to be doing 1 episode per chapter. Not sure how I feel about that yet. On the one hand it keeps the pace ramped up. On the other hand it could hamper plot and character development. On the other other hand they will run out of source material quickly which could hurt the next season.

As someone who hasn't read the book, I will say this show does feel like it's moving at an insane pace. Like, a Ryan Murphy-level pace, lol.

The book is like a short story collection. Each chapter is its own story about a family member or friend of the family that crossed paths with the Sons of Adam. And each story touches on a different genre. There is a heist, a haunted house,
an alien planet
, a monster feature, mystery, horror etc.

Wow. I didn't realize this when watching it. Don't know if this counts as a spoiler, but just in case:

Wasn't as thrilled with this episode as the first two.

I really wanted to read that "spoiler" of RockSP... But I'm not going to do it :oldrazz: I guess it's something I missed , but I prefer to figure it out myself by watching.

Good episode again. I never expected this would become episodic, which is fine since the main story is still moving forward. I think if this would be any other show, we would be getting an entire season with those "dog monsters." It seems like we're getting all types of supernatural creatures, this show really gives me my horror fix :D

It's also funny how almost all of the white characters are one-dimensional. I'm sure that's intentional since it's usually the other way around.

I'm still enjoying this, but they are packing way too much into each episode. I feel like the last two episodes had an entire season worth of information packed into two episodes. All the reviews I've seen have basically indicated it will all start to make sense around the fifth episode, and I really really enjoyed the first episode so I'm going to stick it out and hope I enjoy the next few more.

Its not something youre going to figure out unless your knowledgeable about Civil Rights crimes in the deep South. Its just a blink and you'll miss it historical reference. Not a spoiler.

I didn't care for the changes.
In the book the ghost is a racist, but Leti is so stubborn that she browbeats the ghost into a peace agreement. She and it keep the neighbors from damaging and invading the house and she occasionally plays games with it. In return it doesn't try to kill her. And in the book Leti doesn't hide bodies under the house. The cops take care of it.

This is a decent show but it's really unpopular.....the new ep was made available yesterday and no one bothered to pirate it lol

Episode 4 has been available on HBO max since yesterday
