Lowering your standards

They say that sometimes when dating you have to lower your standards a bit, so when it comes to dating is there an extent as to how low your standards can or will go?

I don't have unrealistic standards, so I don't lower them at all. I did in the past due to low self-esteem and ended up with a skinny loser who cheated on me

I don't believe anyone should have to lower their standards to date as long as those standards are realistic. Just gotta keep it all in perspective.

I don't understand how they can say a guy is "below my standards". If I find her cute, fun, and interesting then its fair game. Obviously theres certain super specific physical and/or personality traits that I prefer but I do like whole package girls- if a girl was slightly less attractive but much more interesting or fun then an other I wouldnt consider than lowering standards. I probably wouldnt stay with a girl for the sake of having a girl friend

Can’t think of a time I lowered my standards to date someone, I mean, what would be the point unless your desperate for human interaction or a free dinner. maybe my standards fit enough people that I never had to lower my standards… hmmm
