"Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior" Special Edition? When?

Ha, I'd gladly double dip for this action masterpiece. An example of a sequel that surpasses the original. Talk about a filmmaker with big brass ones.

They had a SE of Mad Max a while ago, and with it being the 15th anniversary of the Road Warrior, you would think now would be the time. I heard this was on the drawing board. Hope Mel's situation hasn't harmed any chance of getting a proper DVD release.

Oh, I hope not.
And I'm not that nitpicky when it comes to the video, but the dvd we have right now looks awful :down

The Road Warrior is definitely a film that needs a SE DVD ASAP!

I know Mel was hesitant about Fury Road and they eventually had to put off filming Mad Max IV: Fury Road, so who knows how he feels about revisiting Mad Max II....

The HTF held one of its on-line 'chats' with Warners executives - George Feltenstein, George Parker and Ronee Sass - last night. Courtesy of Robert Crawford, here are the highlight:

They're working on a SE for The Road Warrior.

Man Who Would Be King SE for next year. Looking at, but no definite plans for Mad Max beyond Thunderdome, Michael Collins, Ladyhawke, Outbreak and Maverick.

I saw the first one, on T.V yesterday. Just though I'd add that.

The third one is good, but is too derivative. The first one is awesome and the second one actually surpasses it. Its weird because the Gyro Captain in the second one is in the third one, but he plays a different character. Kinda like how Lee Van Cleef was a good guy in the second Dollars movie but a really bad guy in the third Dollars movie. I think maybe that was an homage on Miller's part.

Nevertheless a very solid trilogy. Wonder what ever happened with the proposed 4th entry, Fury Road?

I thought the first one was OK, and the third blew, but TRW is one of my favorite action films....a classic. The Max movies were the pre-eminent post-apocalyptic wasteland movie. A lot of movies tried to copy that genre but they did it best. The climax has to have the longest, most intense car chase scene on film.......The stunt work alone is among the best EVER put on celluloid.
I have been waiting on a special edition dvd for some time. I remember seeing a special edition was available on VHS years ago, so I have never been sure what the hold up was.

Funny you say that because I always felt a kin-ship between The Man with no Name and Max.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome was great until the kids show up. I'd like to know what did Miller think of that 'cause what I've understood is that WB. was doing some movie about lost kids in (apocalyptic) world searching for a hero and someone decided that "Hey! Let's make this a Mad Max movie because The Road Warrior was so huge success.". And I think that Miller didn't want to leave his baby alone to the big studio so he came aboard to save something. But WB. had also hired another director to the soup. The result was what it was.

Kinda like X3.

HELL YES WE CAN RUN THEM OVER! GOOD PEOPLE TOO

the mad max series should've ended after the first one...

this is what happens when you make a sequel to a movie that cant have one.

No it should have ended after The Road Warrior, Beyond Thunderdome was meh

I know...wtf.

I think the third one is overall nowhere near as good as the first two, but it has its redeeming moments. I think it makes a solid trilogy.

But yeah, where the hell is the SE??

yeah... i want my SE damnit!

Bump.

WHEN, LORD? WHEN ARE WE GETTING THIS?

My threat did not work.

Give it a few more days and try again.:woot:

I've had the special edition of Mad Max for quite some time but refuse to buy The Road Warrior because of how bare bones the current one is. They need to get on the ball and bring this out!!
