Mads Mikkelsen In-Talks For Villain Role

Thor II is definately too soon for Surtur, someone like him should clearly be saved for Thor III because he's just that badass.

Well, after Surtur you can't go bigger with the villain. That's for sure. You just can either make them more personal antagonists or up the quantity of them.

If she is in the movie, my casting choice for the Enchantress would be French actress Léa Seydoux.

Maybe she's too young for the role (she's 26 years old). It's just that I want the Enchantress to be potrayed by an European actress and Seydoux seems like the perfect choice (to me at least). And the images could be old, here's a recent picture:

^^ Amber Heard is currently in Machete Kills and won't be starring in Thor2...also you might want to be looking at European actors as they're filming in London and restricted by the acting union there to how many Americans they're allowed to have working one project in the UK...Portman, Dallas, Alexander, Russo and Dennings are already five Americans in the cast...

they had the same problem with Aliens..they had to hire Brits and ex-Pats to fill a lot of the supporting roles
Is Kat Dennings in the movie? I'm under the impression she isn't.

So that's 4 Americans

Any word on MM signing the contract? Or is he still negotiating?

Dennings is unsure but her name appeared in the casting-call sheet for the sequel.. might be like a 60 second cameo but I'm sure she'll have at least a one-liner

looks like 12 year old...

Léa Seydoux was one of the main villains in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and had a cameo in Inglourious Basterds...not a terrible choice but not the best either as you need powerful actors to play convincing comic book villains...if you want to go with a French actress may I suggest...

Mélanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds, Beginners, Now You See Me)

Yikes, way too jailbait. Even if she is 26 years old.
Hell, I'd even prefer to see a cougar play Enchantress than a young waif.

I am hoping the character of darcy Is kept away from Thor 2.I would prefer
for Jane to be only non Asgard related character In sequel.

Surtur sounds more like a "major, major new antagonist" than Malekith does, that's for damn sure; and if Hemsworth was being serious and literal in his statement about "bigger fish" (I don't think he was, but hey), then Surtur definitely fits the bill.

Still, I'm more inclined to bet that the major new antagonist will have breasts, and Mads' character will be named Skurge.

I am hoping for Amora and Enchantress to be honest with you

Aren't Enchantress and Amora the same person or are you going for the old and new versions of Enchantress to both be in the movie? They look so much alike that having only one version is most likely and I think we'll get Amora before the Young Masters version.

Yeah....they're the same person.

You lack MY vision sir! :007

I can get behind him playing Malekith but isn't Loki and Malekith kind of redundent? Two evil genius' take on Thor? I and others feel that Thor needs a physical equal. The Executioner has been written as thug but he doesn't have to be written that way in the film. The Simonson's added a quite a bit of depth to the character in their run, even made him sympathetic. So I think there is meat there for a good actor in the right hands.

I really think they should go with the classic villain team-up of Loki, Enchantress and Executioner, and Mads makes a better Executioner than an Enchantress in my book:cwink: He also has that haunted look in his eyes I would expect to see in Skurge's eyes.

Someone throw up that pic of Skurge guarding the gates of Hell dual wielding M-16s!!! BADASSSSS!!!

Well, I don't expect Loki on the front lines in this film so that can be Malekith's in. And,since IM3 is going stircrazy over with their casting (even if they are just 'henchmen villains') I don't think it's a stretch having a malekith/amora/executioner trifecta so there would still be the physical threat.

Sure it's a bit redundant I guess, but Malekith would be on the forefront fighting thor at some point i'm sure. Wouldn't it also be redundant having Loki deal with thor in 3 straight films. sure like hiddleston says, they define each other, but loki also isn't the only good villain thor has ever been up against in his long history.

So sure, Malekith is a second evil 'genius' but he'll at least be front and center fighting thor hopefully in loki's stead(since he'll hopefully be in some sort of jail). because of that i think mads is good for malekith and you can get another solid actor to take on the executioner

Whoops, I meant Enchantress and Executioner, Amora and Skurge, whoops lol

So, still no official confirmation about Mikkelsen?

Unfortunately, not yet. Hopefully we will get a confirmation soon.

Just by looking at his image and his features I will have to concur with this statement.

If Marvel based all their casting on looks, the cinematic MU would almost entirely be populated by wrestlers and strippers.

I would get behind casting Mads for either Malekith or Executioner, hell he could be cast as Hoder for all I know.

As to who he better resembles . . . I don't see Malekith at all.

As I stated previously, Loki is confirmed in this film. Having Malekith as the antagonist would be kind of redundent in my opinion as they are both kind of the mastermind archtype villains. However, if they played Malekith as an atagonist against both Thor and Loki. Maybe he starts as a Loki pawn until he double-crosses him, I can kind of see that.

I still favor a Skurge and Amora storyline since Jane is going to be a main player and having Jane deal with such a rival would give her character much more wieght than the standard damsel in distress.

Indeed.

Oh, I agree. The main issue here is Mad's voice, especially when you consider that Malekith reads like a cross between the effeminate Varys and Littlefinger from HBO's GoT. Yes, I know ‘Le Chiffre’ had a wonky eye as well but that still doesn’t mean he’s suited for the role. Some people unfamiliar with Simonson's version of the character don’t seem to realize that Malekith is an expressive, glib villain with thin, fey features. You need someone who A. LOOKS the part and B. Has one hell of a voice to pull him off properly. Why? Because he’s even more of a magic-wielding conman than Loki is. I hope they don’t change the character too much, that would ruin everything that made him interesting (and creepy) in the first place. I’ve said it before, someone more along the lines of Benedict Cumberbatch or Steven Valentine would fit the bill. The latter in particular has the maniacal grin down pat.

That may very well be what will happen, either in Thor 2 or 3. In the comics Thor himself says at one point that in the end Malekith managed to "out-trick the trickster" and that reason alone was worth his visit. Ironically Malekith's grudge against Loki was understandable, it was Loki who betrayed him first. When the Dark Elf asked Loki what was to become of him Loki replied that "he was another arrow in his bow" in other words a mere tool.

I found this awesome unused concept of Ulik from the God of Thunder video game.. I really think this would be an interesting new look for the troll warrior.. The more I think about the trolls the more they could end up as dangerous as the orcs in Lord of The Rings, very cinematic creatures...

I'm not terribly familiar with the Thor comics, but dang if he doesn't have a lot of great-looking villains. I should really check some of his comics out.
