I bought the core game today. So I'm just learning how to play. Anyone else play?

I played it in middle school. In high school I gave up because I didn't see the guys who played it as much.

Theres a comic book store here and some people play, so I thought I would give it a try. But if that comic store close it would be pointless for me to play.

On Friday nights, comic stores usually have Friday Night Magic. It's sort of like a mini-tournament.

I haven't played in a long time. I quit shortly after Alliances came out which was around '95 or '96 I guess. Good times.

Wow, 11 years, I didn't realize how long it's been since I played. Crazy.

click on the link to view my level of geekiness, lol. (much better thread on the other end of the link;))

Haha, yeah, you're way more hardcore about it than I was. I loved the game itself but I hated spending all the money on boosters when I'd rather be buying comics. But it was a lot of fun. I tinkered with the online game a few years ago but then I started playing Final Fantasy 11 and never picked it up again.

To be honest the actual cards produced weren't that great until like 5 years ago, each set imporves in terms of what you can do, and thus the quality of the games etc. Because my brother plays also, we split the costs and have regular opponents. I play it far more than my ps3!

I sold nearly all of mine, but I held on to a few that I really liked for whatever reason. Dakkon Blackblade, Royal Assassin, a few others. I also kept my Jester's Cap because I was apparently the only person in town who got one. A lot of the art was really awesome too, I wouldn't mind having posters of several of them.

I played for a year, year and a half in high school. I moved on to Heroclix though. Magic was fun, but then I found a game I had more interest in and I couldn't afford both so I chose Heroclix.
