MTG: Magic The Gathering

I tried making the red deck posted earlier, but I was missing a good amount of the cards. But I did make two really awesome black decks.

Also,

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gonna proxy this into a white deck.

I used to play this WAYYYYY back when it first came out. I remember First Edition and Arabian Nights, etc. I used to spend hours and hours and hours playing that game with my friends. We used to have SICK tournaments. I remember losing my Shivan Dragon in a VERY brutal battle with my best friend which ended with me tossing all my cards at him.

Got a booster box set(36 boosters) of Ravinca on it's way soon. goody goody!

If I have time, I'll definately make sure to post one of those black decks, as well as my blue and green deck.

I've got a 'come into play effects' deck, it's blue, white and red, so it can re-use cards like 'goretusk firebeast - deal 4 damage to target opponent when it comes into play' etc.

Any thoughts on some good additions from reasonably recent sets? Nothing older than oddysey please....?

So, did anyone go to "Magic Day" ?

I had some personal issues going on at the time, so I couldn't.

Nah. Although I got a Ravinca booster box set, so got another 36x15 boosters to play with.

Got some nice idea's planned.

Recieved three 36 booster boxes today, all three kawigama sets.

Me and my brother played sealed, where you get 5 boosters of the first set, 3 of the second two, then create the best deck you can etc.

Done that twice, pretty awesome, still got crap loads of boosters left to open, but the new mechanics are great!

Favourite sets anyone?

I started collecting from Onslaught, missed Fifth dawn on mirrodin, and only have ravinca and time spiral sets from the later editions(bar kawigama obviously, which I have lots of). I also have some older sets, like ice age(and the redone coldsnap), also some old cards from like 5th edition or something as well as some oddysey block.

Personally I think kawigama and ravinca are probably the best 2 sets I've played with, they are unique and have a lot of play in them.

Deffinitely Tempest. That set was a Godsend for red players.

Let's talk...duals!

Any of you chaps got 'em or want 'em?

Duels as in matches, or duals as in bi-colour decks?

I never get to play multiplayer thesedays, because only my bro plays really :(

I'm talking about old lands that you have to sell blood, plasma, and semen to afford:

Yeah, older cards that are too overpowered, the newer versions are more balanced, like the ones that tap for RW at once, but when you play it, you have to return another land and it comes in tapped.

All my decks are multicoloured, except for my black deck.

Heh, commercials:

I can't find it one youtube, but the Ice Age and Homelands commercials were cheesier than cheetos.

I started playing in high school when a friend of mine got me into it. I started getting into it right as Tempest came out. I got out of it for awhile, but found some people at my college who played, and I got back into it. Getting into it so much, I finally put forth the effort into perfecting my deck that I had been working on since high school (which sucked), and by the time I was done, my deck was considered one of the most powerful decks in my gaming group. It's a green / black reanimator deck, and not belonging to a particular style (i.e. type 1, type 2, etc...):

Lands:
-10x Swamp
-10x Forest

Creatures:
-1x Spirit of the Night
-2x Hell's Caretaker
-2x Doomed Necromancer
-2x Body Snatcher
-2x Fallen Angel
-2x Phyrexian Plaguelord
-4x Birds of Paradise
-4x Symbiotic Wurm

Sorceries / Instants:
-3x Exhume
-4x Zombify
-4x Entomb

Enchantments:
-1x Recurring Nightmare
-1x Survival of the Fittest
-4x Defense of the Heart
-4x Pattern of Rebirth

Well, the obvious strategy is to bring stuff back from my graveyard. If it's a creature card, the worst place for it to be is in my hand, lol.

Originally, in the very crappy incarnation of the deck, the purpose was to bring out big creatures fast, keep them in play (bringing them back from the graveyard), and killing off opposing creatures. It wasn't a very effective deck when the creatures I was bringing back were Rootbreaker Wurms, and I was using Gravediggers to bring them back.

Now, the winning combination consists of the Symbiotic Wurm and the Fallen Angel... attack with the Angel, since it's flying they often can't block it, and then sacrifice the Symbiotic Wurm and all of it's tokens to the Fallen Angel to dish out crazy damage.

I do feel proud of my deck, because my deck was considered to be one of the most powerful decks amongst a group of people who were power deck builders, and tournament players, and such. It wasn't -the- best, as my deck has some huge weaknesses (mainly blue and red, which play a different type of game than creatures on the board), but I feel pretty much unstoppable against certain types of decks that I'm built to go up against.

The other nice thing is that most opponents think that the Fallen Angel, or even Phyrexian Plaguelord are the centerpieces of the deck, and put their resources into taking those out. But those who -really- know my deck know it's the Symbiotic Wurms. Without them, I really don't have much in my deck to power up anything else. The Symbiotic Wurm is where the real power of my deck comes from. It's kind of funny, because when I bought them, they were just going to be a secondary "well this kinda works with this card" type thing, but hardly the focus. But seeing how well it worked was the eventual reason to include the Fallen Angel, and my deck has been pretty powerful ever since.

Anyone keeping up to date with the Lorwyn release info on the website?

I've been peeking on some sites to see if any spoilers have gotten out. There's new card-types called Planeswalkers, and 1 for each color. I like the new look for elves, but apparently no one else does:

Don't support the "Say No To Horny Elves" campaign. :cmad:

after the onslaught block, I've started to hate elves, they were too basic, powerful and boring :(

tribal sets worry me now, like this new one:(

I liked the dragon tribal cards. :yay:

Elves never really bothered me. A well played Pyroclasm or Earthquake usually took care of those tree huggers. Goblins got rediculous, and still dominate in Legacy. [exp: Legacy allows for cards from every set, but I believe the Power 9 are banned here]

This guy's the worst offender:

I wish Viashino would get as rediclulously fast and broken as goblins. They're one of the coolest red tribes out there, next to dragons and barbarians:
