Well as already reported earlier this evening in collateral thread, smallville return is delayed a week. Just thought to post here for folks who might not read it earlier.

Smallville Exclusive: Prepare to Kneel Before Zod!

Callum Blue is returning to Smallville, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Blue, 33, will reprise his role as Zod, Clark's sworn enemy who tried to take over the world in Season 9. He was last seen being sucked into a one-sided portal that leads to New Krypton.

He'll appear in one of the final five episodes of the series.

^Nice. I had a feeling that is who it would be...very interested to see how he is re-introduced.

Great news callum is returning. My guess his return could likely be episode 18 kent or probably 19/20. Cause I would say 20-22 will be superman/darkseid stuff.

Guess I was right about that Ausiello words-play-stuff, after all.

OH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL !!!!! I hope he merges with the Phantom wraith Zod trapped in the Phantom Zone .

Yaaaaay! This kinda-almost-sorta nearly makes me feel a bit better after finding out Collateral was delayed. Can't wait to see in what capacity Zod returns.

I don't see how that will be possible really. With the phantom trapped in the pz and zod on "new krypton ". Plus he has enough history and hatred for jorel/kalel already. As I think probably will be between episodes 18-20.

Awesome about Zod! Now just bring back Bizarro and Doomsday for an episode.

Glad to hear he'll be back.

I think the wedding and Zod's return will happen in episodes 18-20. Clark had better fly by the time Zod returns. I hope it's General Zod from the Phantom Zone, where Slade is at. :super:

Guiding Smallville Towards the Finale

Executive Producer Brian Peterson talks about setting the stage for the end.

Yes, it's true unfortunately, the return of Smallville has been pushed back a week [Click Here for more]. But when the show returns with new episodes (on February 4th now!), it will be heading ever-closer to the end of the series, which wraps up in May.

I recently spoke to executive producer Brian Peterson (who serves alongside Kelly Souders as showrunner) to talk about what to expect in those final episodes, which will feature the debut of Booster Gold (in an episode written by DC Comics' Geoff Johns) the rising menace of a parallel universe Lionel Luthor and more.

IGN TV: You only have a handful episodes left to shoot. Do you feel like, "Okay, we're all set!" or do you feel, "Oh god, we only have a few left!"

Brian Peterson: Both! Exactly at the same time. We feel all the pressure leading up to the finale and we have all these plans and we very much know where we're going and the markers along the way. But this show is always… Something new comes up in every episode. Some twist. Some character. Some director. Some situation. So it always keeps us on our toes. But the first three or four are ready to go and after that, we're in the middle of it!

IGN: There's a lot of theories about what happened to everyone at Hawkman's funeral. What can you say about that situation?

Peterson: I would say watch "Collateral." Watch the first one back, which is actually a fantastic episode. It's a big visual effects episode, so there's a lot of really fun eye candy as well as some really big emotional moments in it. And it kind of platforms the rest of our run. So that's really cool. Then we have "Beacon," which is a really great, inspirational episode and "Masquerade," which brings back Darkseid through Desaad. And now we're in production on "Booster." Geoff [Johns] has been in the office and we've been working on the look of Booster and the look of Blue Beetle, who has kind of a cameo in it. And so it's just been really fun.

IGN: Erica told me that Chloe makes a pretty heroic return.

Peterson: We wanted Chloe to come back in a very significant way. I think what's really fun about her arc is that it's both about relationships -- not only about Oliver, but Clark and Lois and Martha Kent and all the people that have been in her life -- but very much about her finding her new identity. Because she's been on such a roller coast as far as The Daily Planet and Watchtower, and now she's just made this big trade for Oliver. Where Chloe is going to end up is really fun because she's the one character who until really recently had never had a future in the source material, so it's really her carving her own destiny.

IGN: Meanwhile, you have this new version of Lionel Luthor in play.

Peterson: Well what is so great about seeing John Glover return is it is Lionel from the first season. It is vicious, hardcore Lionel Luthor. It was fun to see him kind of come around when he was alive to Clark's side, but it's kind of a fun reminder now to see where he started. And he's got a great scene with Annette O'Toole coming up and he's got a really nice arc with Tess and also with Clark. It's just great to have him back in the show. It kind of feels like we're moving forward but still a little bit of old home week with characters like Martha Kent and Lionel.
IGN: When I talked to John, he said that this Lionel is so nasty that he even makes some fairly disturbing remarks to Tess, given that he's her father.

Peterson: I don't know if that was Lionel or Glover. [Laughs] I'm kidding!

IGN: I'm gonna try to sneak in my Michael Rosenbaum question by mentioning that regardless of whether Michael comes back, you have the Lex clone out there, who we know is rapidly aging. I would guess that Lionel would be pretty intrigued by this clone.

Peterson: Lionel is very much about coming back to this world to right the wrongs that he did in the other world. They're very different wrongs than we might count as wrongs! So he's very much about coming back and reuniting the family and the Luthor Dynasty living on. And so there's a couple of episodes about that. We have "Beacon" and "Scion" which are kind of the run of him trying to reunite his family.

IGN: So… anything you can say to the usual Rosenbaum query?

Peterson: It's, "the door is open," you know? [Laughs]
IGN: [Laughs] Okay! Black Canary is guest starring again soon. Will any other Justice League members, like Impulse and Cyborg, also possibly return?

Peterson: Right now, we kind of are in a rev up of a little bit more of the characters that we always knew, so right now there is not a lot of JLA in play. There's always small wings to it, but it's not front and center in the storyline.

IGN: I imagine it's a juggling act, because you want to have cool things like that but also important elements with the core cast. Is that constantly a discussion for you guys?

Peterson: Right. It's a balance of always giving something new and not getting too nostalgic and seeing even old characters in a new way. But it's also about remembering where we came from and where we started.

IGN: We're seeing a lot of promotional imagery for the final episodes hinting at the costume. We've already seen it on the show, but as far as truly seeing Superman, is that a discussion you're still having or do you know at this point?

Peterson: I think those final images are going to be discussions all the way up until the end. It's definitely in play in all the discussions and a major point in all the discussions. Just like the glasses and the other Clark Kent identity, that identity will definitely, definitely play a role in the finale.

IGN: Lois and Clark are engaged now and Erica told me we'll see her bachelorette party. Should we expect to see that wedding before the end of the series?

Peterson: We're working out the details on that and hopefully you'll be seeing something soon on that. It's a little bit too early to tell.

I hope they plan out Clark wearing the suit and flying with it in the series finale.

I think Beacon and Scion are going to be great episodes in terms of Tess and Lionel Luthor. Tess is wrestling between her Luthor lineage and her role as Watchtower for Clark and the heroes.

As far as the JLA goes, I can only see three at the most as Black Canary is the only one available in addition to Clark and Oliver.

Chloe's arc doesn't seem to have a role in Clark's journey in this final season. Her arc seems to tie more with Oliver than Clark. I wonder if they're trying to line up Chloe with the comics version.

Blue Beetle will not be in it much as a costumed hero. It's mostly Jaime Reyes and Ted Kord as their civilian selves. The episode will be more about Clark and Booster.

The wedding must happen in episodes 18-20. :super:

She's not technically in the comics yet, is she?

IGN: Erica told me that Chloe makes a pretty heroic return.

 This is not looking good.

Do I really have to alter reality?
Because I will no matter what it takes, if they do try to make her the good guy.

Otherwise Brian Peterson will rue the day he angered a God.

It's extremely simple here.

Chloe cannot be made a hero, or Clark Kent can never be Superman.
I will have no choice but to file a lawsuit against the crew, killing the show in it's tracks, a lawsuit which will primarily be about false advertisement. But have about 50 subcharges. I'll win on one at least.
A lawsuit for a whopping 5 billion dollars.
Because this show cannot make Clark Kent Superman if Chloe is proven right as much as she is.

She's completely destroyed him in all ways of the word by how much she's prevented him from being right.

I wish you would all understand why I'm saying these things. I'm not insane, Damnit. I just seem to be the only person who cares if Superman is destroyed.

Clark Kent being proven as wrong as he was by Chloe, can not be Superman. It's like trying to make Hitler into a good guy! It's just not possible!

I can post a thousand bullet points to prove my side, but it's still a moot point unless someone sends it to Al Septiem, and Brian Peterson, and the rest of the major Crew.

Agreed, DavidB1111. That series finale everyone is waiting for is really not looking good. They never, NEVER teased us with the word Superman and never hited that Clark would wear the suit - as well as Mr. Tom Welling - all he says is that it's a huge responsibility. Come on, if it's not to see Superman and TW in the suit flying around, WHY THE **** WOULD THEY GIVE US THIS GODDAMN SHOW AND HAVE BEEN TEASING US ALL ALONG ABOUT THE CHARACTER. :csad:

Sometimes I start to wonder that the only shot we will have of Superman in this show is a bad CGI'd Tom Welling in an Superman suit by the last few seconds. Man, I'll tell you, they better NOT do this - I haven't spent 10 of my life waiting ONLY for this - someone is gonna end up hurt. :cmad:

Nice interview there, some cool stuff. I am sure they will have clark in costume for good portion of the end. It would piss so many fans off. As for booster I doubt him/bb would not be in costumes why wouodnt they. He wad probably talking more about ted blue beetle over jaime I think. Can't wait to see final episodes.

Take it easy, fanboy. We know exactly nothing about the finale, yet.

Wow, that interview didn't sound good at all. What the hell does he mean by "discussions"? As in discussions taking place in the writers room or the discussions taking place as in everybody trying to convince Welling to put the effin suit on? In another interview even Rosenbaum said that Welling didn't want to put on the suit and he kept telling him that he had to.
Reading that Peterson interview I couldn't help but thinking that they're negotiating with Welling to even wear the suit at all, as in litterally the last few minutes of the show.
People shouldn't raise their hopes in thinking Welling will wear it for more than a minute or so, if even that.

Clark will not wear the suit until the finale. However, if he doesn't wear the suit in the finale, I will be most disappointed in TW and the producers and that we'd have watch the show for nothing.

The wedding must happen before in the finale somewhere between episodes 18-20 and I know we didn't wait 10 years for a wedding. We've waited 10 years for the unveiling of Superman.

As for Chloe, I was right that it seems she doesn't really serve a purpose in Clark's journey in this final season. It looks like they're trying to align her with the recent comics version. She's tied to Oliver more than Clark and Lois. :super:
