The tiger thing made me tear up. That was some subtle, powerful stuff.

I kind of like the ongoing "name" gag, actually.

And I was okay with the

headless Superman cameo.

Found it to be pretty funny in context, and it works on so many levels, both literally and in a meta sense.

What struck me, and it kind of comes and goes in the third act, but is perfectly placed, was the "Don't worry folks, we're done with the angsty superheroes fighting each other nonsense, time to be inspired again" sequence during the final battle with Sivana. Weird and slightly meta moment, but then the movie had quite a bit of that.

The teases into the talking animal universe (we all know what other animals talk), the seven realms/magiclands and Mr. Mind...I can't wait.

Hell, I loved the whole movie. I don't feel bad about saying this is the best DC film since TDK and the best DC film in the current DCCU.

You're quite right, but it's the best one in the sense that it was objectively good. For one thing, and I'm sure others will disagree, it didn't suffer from third act-itis like all the other films have. It wasn't an incomprehensible destruction fest that left me confused with a massive headache. I mean good Lord, Shazam and Sivana go at it in the city and cause minimal property damage. I didn't think that was possible!

Most importantly though, it makes one feel like a kid again watching the film, much like the Reeves Superman films. How many times have we fantastized as kids about having powers and saving the day? That's exactly what Billy is.

Comes down to overall quality.

You can look at everything from TDKR to Aquaman as easily pick large holes in every one of them - also some have been legitimately trash, as well.

Shazam is the first DC movie that maintains quality across every facet of the film. Perfect? Of course not. But undeniably well made.

And most important... the story is great. And story is EVERYTHING.

I'm sure they will in the opening scene and then somehow lose their powers midway through, as these things generally go. Otherwise there won't be much of a threat from the antagonist.

But some people have suggested that they should have saved the family for the sequel.
I disagree.
If you save something for the sequel and it doesn't happen, you have wasted an opportunity.

on a side note, its cool to see D.J. Cotrona finally getting his chance to wear the cape and tights after all that JL:M stuff back in the day {so many people doubted him at the time cause of his height, didn't seem to be an issue here} tho they may have gone comically overboard with the bulky look, tho that might have been the point
