KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent -- A 21-year-old woman was beheaded in front of horrified onlookers at a bus terminal in this Caribbean nation's capital, police said Tuesday.

Stacy Wilson was returning home from work when a machete-wielding assailant pulled her off an idling bus in Kingstown, according to Assistant Police Superintendent Eckron Lockhart.

The attacker, identified by police as Sean Samuel, carried Wilson's severed head for several seconds before dropping it to the ground, witnesses said. Her right hand also was chopped off at the wrist.
Police detained Samuel shortly after the slaying. They did not release a motive for the attack.

Samuel, who is in his early 30s, is expected to be charged later this week, Lockhart said.

It was the second beheading in recent years in the eastern Caribbean island.

In 2003, 69-year-old Albert Browne's headless corpse was found in mountains near a small village in the southern St. Vincent region of Marriaqua. The man's head was later found buried in a shallow hole. His attacker is on death row for the slaying.

I wonder how it was like to have witnessed this slaying. Entertaining to say the least?

Wow!:wow: That's horrifing to hear. I can't imagine wittnessing this.

And why the hell didn't anyone try to stop him? There were probably dozens of people around, and he's only one man.

It's not that quick to chop off a head, he had to stand there whacking at it for a bit. The "stand by and just watch in horror" thing people have taken on is the most horrid thing. No, I'm not saying I'd be a hero, or that I'm some kind of badass, but son of a bacon, DO SOMETHING!! :cmad:

As a general rule, I don't f*** with a machete-wielding madman holding someone's head.

Of course, by that time there's no point anyway. But it said he dragged her off a bus, then probably threw her down and struggled to hack at her.

Two whacks really.

Just 2. :(

Well, yeah, once the head is off, he's dangerous again. But with one hand holding a woman that probably weighed over 100 pounds, any group of 2 or 3 people (or more, depending on who was around) could have subdued him, it really isn't that hard.

Well, I'll try to remember that the next time I witness a savage murder.

And there in lies the problem. People don't take the time to think about things when they happen. It's the same reason there are 10 car pile ups on the highway because the dumbass up front hit a patch of ice and lost traction in one of his tires. In this case, the people just sat there and thought "Oh ****, she's about to get murdered." instead of "Oh ****, she's about to get murdered, what can I do to help?

Well, it's the whole selfish and protective nature of humans. Sure, they could probably help her, but they might get their arm sliced or something. But instead of a poor woman losing her head, a small group of people could have taken him down, maybe a cut or two as they stomp his eyelids. *Shrug*

Not just that though, it's called survival. I'm not jumping in front of a machete unless I have a bigger machete, a gun, or some sort of superhuman power. Now given it was someone I cared about, I would undoubtedly have stepped in, but helping a stranger, not a chance.

It may sound cold, but it's the truth for the majority.

It's the herd mentality. As soon as humans see a threat, it's a survival instinct to blend into the surroundings so as not to draw attention to yourself.

You draw attention to yourself, you're likely to be next.

Yeah, but just because it's the majority doesn't make it acceptable. Not knowing and or liking/loving someone isn't justification for not helping them, because odds are that somewhere in the world, someone does care enough to step in, and just because that person isn't there to do it doesn't mean that the person in trouble should have to face mistreatment.

I'd rather lose an arm or my life than try to sleep at night knowing I watched a defenseless woman die. Apparently that's just myself and perhaps Dog Lips though...

You may SAY that, but be put in that situation and see if you don't swallow your balls first.

Personally I would love to claim that I would protect an innocent person, assuming that person is innocent, but I am not going to lie to myself and say that I would.

There's only a couple things that make me lose sleep

1) Playing video games and forgetting into the small hours
2) Watching a movie into the small hours

I've never lost sleep over anything else

Well at least you're not lonely up there on your hero pedestal.

I'm done with being selfless for the next year or so. I have to be more than a little selfish at this point to get my life on track. I'm going to pass my finals, I'm going to get healthy, I'm GOING to change things, and I'm not going to let extreme compassion stop me.

I'll start worrying about other people once I can stop worry about myself.

It wouldn't be the first time I faced a situation like that, and I doubt I would "swallow my balls" this time considering last time I managed to turn a potentially deadly situation into a few minor bruises for the attacker. Now then, given the last time was a blade roughly a quarter the size of a machete, perhaps I would try to illicit help for this one.

holy cow. My moms family are from St Vincente. My nan still lives there

I can't comprehend a life like that. I put my needs behind the needs of those around me, especially the people I care about. And i never called myself a hero, I simply said that I would (and have) stepped up in situations that required me too. I'll also admit that I've faltered before, but I'm trying to make up for those times.

I don't understand the mentality. The man was crazy, and had his attention on the woman while a dozen people stood there. They probably had a MILLION chances to attack him that would have taken him down. We're on a superhero website, learn from the best!! :cmad::p

Especially if the woman was hot. :cmad:
