Man sues wife for being ugly (and wins)

I just find it funny that the husband doesn't think the ugly gene came from his side because obviously he must look like a pretty boy catalogue model.

I just assumed he was considering how she looks now. She made herself "hot" so she end up with a "hot" guy and whatever other reasons she had.

I don't know why this story made me remember Jenna Talackova, nor do I know why I'm doing a google image search right now, but God help me, I'm there. :o

I'm sure there will be a TV miniseries based on this.

It sounds more like a supervillian backstory to me:

My first memory is my father calling me ugly. He was so horrified that he sued my mom, sending her into poverty. I took my revenge on him, but the pain grew instead of subsiding. When I looked in the mirror, all I saw was a hideous freak scorned by her own blood.

Things humanity deemed "beautiful" became caustic to my soul. To free myself from the spectre of my own self-loathing, I began to terminate all things that were ideal from the budding flower to the throughbred horse. But those were only pale practice. I soon realized that I must destroy humanity's greatest vision of itself. I must destroy its champion.

Now I hunt the Man of Steel.

Yes it does.
Why? If all he wanted was a beautiful wife, he had one. Do you require that all your dates tell you exactly what they did with their makeup and hair everyday to look nice for you? :o Or what kind of bra or Spanx they're wearing?

Now, if he expected that his wife came with beauty genes, that's another thing entirely. :oldrazz: In which case it wasn't really love, but an audition for procreation.

The man lost any chance of sympathy by calling his child ugly. That's messed up. It's still his kid. No way the little one doesn't make through childhood without self-esteem issues. Not with a dad like that.

Think of it in business terms and contracts. It doesn't matter if his rationale is warped or not, he was misled on the contract (fraud), and the courts sided with him.

The government made it a business the moment it is a license. So it is what it is.

Only in Asia, baby.

In related news, Tom Cruise is moving to China.

That's only if you think marriage is meant to ensure you pass on your genes to your children. :oldrazz: Even in Asia, most marriages are not about that anymore.

Also, even my female Asian lawyer friend thinks that Chinese courts are messed up. :lmao:

It doesn't matter what any of us think marriage is about.

Contract fraud. Case closed.

Reminds me of the Bene Gesserit breeding program from Dune.

Now China will never have its Kwisatz H'aderach! :cmad:

I should let my fiance know about this and then have him divulge his entire health history to me. Just in case. :oldrazz:

In my treatment the judge is a disgusting misogynist who was paid to let the husband off light. There was no surgeon; the husband was in a drunk rage and did the surgery with a pumpkin carving knife. The husband was drunk because he owes a debt to a gang with ties to a human trafficking operation. The husband mangled her because he hoped the traffickers wouldn't want her afterward.

I don't think it's to do with health or even make up habits. In terms of contract, it's to do with misrepresentation, and the man being induced to enter into the contract on a representation that the woman was a specific person, when she isn't. If he knew what he was really getting into, it's arguable that he would not have entered into that contract in the first place. That's what the lawsuit revolves around and why he won, and nothing to do (in legal terms) whether she's ugly or whether he expects the child to turn out a particular way.

Now whether his lawsuit was driven by other motives (ie that he did think she was ugly or that the baby didn't turn out as expected) is a different issue, but let's not confuse the two here.
