Man turns down $5 Billion!

Good for him!

There is not many people who will take beauty over money.

Good for the enviroment, and good for the world.

Imagine if he did take the money. Imagine how many precious animals will die and go extinct.

"I'm not interested in money. I've got a job; I can buy tucker; I can go fishing and hunting. That's all that matters to me."

Thats the best attitude anyone can have.

MAN, this guy is awesome. But, I do have to admit, while I was reading the article, I did catch myself saying: "well, if I owned the land...isn't there a way to drill and be, y'know safe? I mean it is 5 BILLION dollars."

But that's just because I'm having one of those days when I look at my shrinking bank roll and my increasing med school loan and tell myself..."what the hell did I get myself into?"

This guy's got principles and I'm not worthy. :(

Good for him! I hope he's successful in getting it turned into protected land.

jag

i have to respect that man.....

i could never do such a thing

i could easily be bought :)

Idk id do about anything for 5 billion dollars.. thats a ****load of $$$ and you'd be set for life.

keep about 1-2 million buy a nice house with a big piece of property buy some dirt bikes and a car or two, fix up said property, give some to charity's and hospitals. and with the rest put in savings bonds and in seven years it doubles and id have about 9.9 billion dollars.

than repeat the process.

Thats why some people shouldn't be rich. Better things to spend with billions than a mansion and dirt bikes.

who said i wanted a mansion, all i said was nice house, mansions bug me out, there too big and unnecessary, and the deal with the dirt bikes is i always rode quads, but i wanted to try out a dirt bike but my mom is afraid of me on them.

id also use the money to pay off alot of bills, buy some things id realy need and some things id really want.

with the rest, its all about saving or investing.

With a few billion dollars, you'd pretty much never need to save. The interest would constantly build up.

Billions ain't just life changing, billions = power.

He could have used to money to build community projects or something.

Wow....Great scott......

He'll settle for that few billion within a month, I bet.

Anyone want to bet that uranium rich land will be mined wheater he likes it or not?

Well if it were in the US, then yes the government would just take it claim eminate domain (means since it is in the US they can have it). But they would offer money first, then if you say no they will just kick you off your land and take it.

I think he saw the movie An Inconvenient Truth and he said f*** the 5 billions :woot:

Good for him, realizing that $5 billion dollars won't make him any happier but that keeping the land may make future generations happier. I just hope he lives a good long time and is able to put the land into a trust that no Government can touch it.

This is a very powerful showing of integrity. I commend Mr. Lee for having the conviction, personal satisfaction with his life and love for his heritage to turn down an exorbitant sum of money. Truly impressive.

With that said, I would have signed that **** over so ****ing quickly, that Areva would have thought they prospected the wrong parcel of land. 5 BILLION DOLLARS?!?! I might have offered to start digging myself right there on the spot.

True dat :o

They didn't let the native americans stand in their way, so this one dude should be cake. Unless he has mystical powers, then their asses are toast.

Though I admire his principles and his simple needs in life, if that were me, I'd be living simply too - on my own private island somewhere.
