Is anything from the book in the film?! They should have called it something else.

Saw the trailer. Looks pretty good.

Brad Pitt fighting an army of zombies- ingenious idea

Zombies! And it's been awhile since I read it but that tiny scene with all the boats and military ships looks like one of the refugee flotillas mentioned in the novel. So that's two things! And we've only seen 2 minutes of footage!

P.S. Something Else would be a terrible name for a zombie movie.

They should have called it World War Fast. The zombies in the book are no where near that fast.

Call it what it looks like I Am Legend: The Beginning.

I remember some time ago seeing some behind-the-scenes pics of practical make-up and prosthetics for zombies.

What happened to all of that? Was it CG-'d entirely out of the film, or have we just not seen any of that footage yet?
did you see a close up of the zombie in the trailer? i didnt. thats where they used makeup. for the close up shots . zombies run behind Brad Pitt and other actors. they will use actors with makeup.

this was a money shot trailer. it was so focused on action and destruction that they didnt even make it clear that its about zombies.

A tsunami of flesh eaters? I'm definitely seeing this movie.

Superhuman ant zombies. To be honest i didnt even know it was a movie about zombies when i saw the trailer, i thought it was a war movie where America gets invaded by another country.

Yeah, if I hadn't read the book, I would've thought the same.

Trailer looks great to me, havent read the book but the trailer got me interested.

Seeing a tidal wave of Zombies coming at you, is a horrifying sight. So, what happened in the book? How does the Zombie outbreak occur simultaneously all around the globe?

It started in some small mountainous village, if I remember correctly. Not in the United States. I think somewhere in China? SOmeone correct me, if I'm wrong.

I haven't read the book but I was just reading the outline of the plot on Wikipedia and yea it said it originates in China. I think I may have to go pick this book up though. It sounds like a damn good read

Yeah the deal with the spread in the book is that it spread so quickly due to a number of systematic problems in the world, especially the black market organ trade, followed by misinformation due to corporate cashin's and wasn't able to be stopped doing the strategic rigidity on the part of the military. Every step of the way is some fairly pointed social commentary in which Brooks really showed his research.

By the way, this fake trailer made of clips from other movies is actually awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7NGNeHggsE

I love the book. don't think it could be translated very faithfully on the big screen. I am interested by the trailer. It looks intense. Brooks sais he wanted the movie to be the Lord of the ring of Zombie movies. Looks like this is what we're getting.

Yes this CG does look like it was made in 2002. :o

These days there is no excuse for CG to look worse than Jurassic Park's. Even lesser companies than ILM in this day and age should be able to do **** on par with 1993 graphics.

True. But Inception sfx weren't that great either in the trailer. I won't judge the CG until I've seen the movie. Regardless, the zombie waves is an interesting idea.

The difference was in approach. While the CG in Jurassic park was of course great and groundbreaking, they didn't bust it out until they had to.

when the studio and director tells the CGI company that the zombies have no weight when they run it will look fake. its not their fault. trust me noone wasnt to have objects with less then norma gravity. its the producers and directors.

thats all thats wrong. skin, cloth, lighitng, hair all looks good.

Trailer is okay. For a troubled production, it looks like they found out what worked and went for it.

But Pitt still needs to cut that mop. He's a big movie star, he should be able to afford a good haircut once in a while.

Well, they've clearly utilized one main character VS the approach the book took, which kind of makes sense in terms of a cinematic adaption, though I would think there would be room for other characters if they're indeed considering making this into a franchise. But the basic concept, that being the various governments' failure to stop the spread of the zombies, and the idea that there is in fact, a world-altering "war", seems to be intact, and a lot of the scale and impact of this looks pretty impressive. We'll have to see how many political/tactical/social elements the film includes. I think that will be the measure of how well it drew from the book.
